I'm that 'How I Paint Things' guy! Wargamer of all stripes. I retweet myself for weird timezones.
Post your favorite Disney Princess. Wrong answers only. #FilmSky
Not gonna lie, getting pretty hype about being able to put some of these guys on the table with a game designed ground-up for solo play and adventuring!
"Identify theft is a crime, Brock. I will NOT let the authorities ignore this ANY LONGER!"
Could it be? After two months... at last, the return of something very special? Man, I just wanna play some games! Stands to reason I should paint some miniatures, then - for Necromunda or... aaany old thing. youtu.be/j9O__Z6akxg
I always feel a little funny about sticking close to box art for miniatures, but in this case I genuinely really like the blue on black look for the Orlock gang. Lots of little washes and thinned bits for this guy. #jhbackdrops
"On the way to Berlin, lads. Want anything from the bakery?" Monty arrives in France. Trouble would, predictably, follow! footsoreminiatures.co.uk/products/mon...
"Identifying that depression is possible means it can't be depression." Suuure, sure.
Best Bond villain, wrong answers only GIF "Could a dead Bond do thIIiIiIiIIiIIiIIIIS?!"
Just cracking out the 3mm brass rod like it's 1998, no big deal.
With it being #WIPWednesday I figured I'd see if I could sling some paint in these temperatures, and learned the hard way my usual method requires a lot more thinning! Still, not a bad turnout. I'll base Monty when I base his twin brother in the khaki drill - one for each theater!
Oooh... ooh, I like that one. That's a magnificent brand of evil.
It does still surprise me that people get so bent out of shape over the four seconds in each video where I say 'Hello and welcome to a very special How I Paint Things.' My guy. The rest of the 30s to a minute of intro are usually what the miniature is, where to find it, or similar. Relax.
There he goes. My granddad, Kevin. 1943-2026. We used to joke there was never any good photos of him smiling; even in his old Ministry of Transport uniform he looked like the photographer had a knife. Not a humourless bloke, he just hated being in the spotlight. I'm gonna miss him.
Necromunda got under my skin, yeah. I'm relatively confident that the previews that show flat boards are just the 'here is an easy way to get started,' I'm sure terrain will stay king... and honestly, I just wanna paint some weird little guys.
Experimenting with @thearmypainter.bsky.social's 8th Army paint set. I did use Mud Spatter for the rifle and Barren Dune for the helmet, but the uniform and webbing are all from the set. I think Strong Tone might work better here than Soft Tone, but I'm going to get some highlights on here to see.
It isn't yet the end of the week, but who doesn't want some more good vibes around the place? Do me a little favour! Quote this post with something you've painted that you're proud of, or you just really like. Doesn't have to be your best, just something that makes you smile when you see it!
The absolutely charming - and presumably rogue, if friendly - automated infantry character, 'B for Bertie' from Warlord Games. Utterly fun to paint the entire way through, dripping with character. Painted entirely with @thearmypainter.bsky.social range. #jhbackdrops
Can't wait to sling some paint on this dude. 'B for Bertie' is about the most 2000AD-looking dude Warlord Games have put out there in an age. Little did I realise he's actually a plastic kit! I thought it'd have been that resin stuff, but nope!
Observe the face of a man who has gone without sleep for three days and crossed the whole-ass planet. Germany, I'm baaack! Etz ich brauch a bier.
One of my favourite very southern German/Austrian words is 'Autodromkatzerl,' which one won't often have a use for, but literally means 'bumper car kitten' after how the little ones buzz around with their tails up like a roof contact. 'erl' is one of those diminutives I love.
The face of a man about to address a class of 7 to 9 year olds. Can you tell I'm not a professional?
I climbed up the side of a mountain with @tronhammernz.bsky.social and Mrs Sledge. Weather decided there wasn't much view to share, so I've got just one photo!
I think, as a very wee Sledge first hearing War of the Worlds... but it's Disco!, this was probably the face I made as the last of the normal dribbled out my ears.
I asked the barber for 'short back and sides' and he came for me like Mr. Burns told him to shave my sideburns.
With credit to poor @cwgabriel.bsky.social here, I have the most terrifying image of near enough the same result. And needing to be reminded, "Your mom is a classy lady!"
Four weeks with nothing planned. I hit up a couple of used bookstores, and I think I've got reading material sorted...
