For an overview of what data the courts should be collecting data and releasing reports on, I really like MacArthur's report card. www.macarthurjustice.org/wp-content/u...
This win was even more egregious. Two bishops versus a rook is typically better for the bishops so I felt good going into the endgame. Then I got my king stuck by my opponent's king and pawns. Their promotion looks imminent! If I sac a bishop stopping it I'll surely lose. Then I see an opportunity.
Another one I shouldn't have won! I was playing really well in the beginning, really going after my opponents weak king. But then I let my king get too weak. But my h pawn can be real pain the ass if you aren't careful, and it ends up winning me the game!
Halloween Gambit living up to its reputation of being terrifying. (This game was only 17 moves!)
My favorite chess games to study are the ones from the old swashbucklers. Tossing your knights at your opponent, and having your army slowly march them off the board until there isn't any room left. I don't always get to play that way, but this Halloween Gambit game sure was fun.
here's a game i absolutely should not have won. my opponent had mate on the board! move 49 if they play d6 instead of exf6 it is over for me! but exf6 loses the game for them. later i'm able to queen and after some trades i'm just up a bishop.
currently dying that @lichess.org's new (very cool!) tutor tool has told me that I am incredible at swindling. i knew i saved a lot of games i shouldn't have been able to, but this is still cracking me up
Rewatched The Mummy for the first time in decades the other day. Feeling icky and think I'll rewatch the sequel, which I do not remember at all. I assume it pretty much just goes like this?
My roommate overheard someone say “there’s no one in the car, they’re chasing someone.” I can confirm there is no one in the car.
UChicago police officer appears to have left his vehicle. My roommate says the bus has been stuck here for about 5 minutes.
Learn your king and pawn endgames kids, never know when 77 moves boil down to a single decision to draw.
Okay, sorry for all the chess posting, but this game was awesome. (I'm playing with the Black pieces in this game.) I mouse-slipped on move four, infuriatingly ruining my opportunity to play the Bellon Gambit by playing b6 instead of b5. I was now down a pawn with no compensation.
you shouldn't start a chess game with h6. your opponent might just run you off the board. (the computer was actually really mad at me when i reviewed this game. I had like a dozen opportunities to checkmate, including a very pretty pawn mate if anyone wants a challenge.)
According to ILETSB’s 2024 Body Camera Report, the top five most frequent offenses for which footage was used in the prosecution of an offense were related to cars/driving. Do we need officers with guns for these?
Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn’t Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, or Alice In Chains
This sentence makes it seem like public bodies asking for an extension is difficult, when it's incredibly routine? Can't remember the last time a FOIA of mine WASN'T extended! If nothing else 5 ILCS 140/3(e)(vi) basically let's public bodies ask for an extension whenever 5 days isn't enough time.
I have seen kids on TikTok manage to redact the footage they use, so I cannot imagine it is truly that hard or time consuming. It's true there is a scale issue here, the more officers at the scene, the more video that responses to the FOIA, the more redactions. BUT
