Brain itch

A giant humanoid baby pilots a decaying human body like a puppet. The human, skull has turned a semipermeable orange, revealing the embryo within it.

Text reads: “Parasite now has full control over the host's body and is almost ready to hatch. The newly softened skull is stretched thin across the embryo's form. The membrane will soon break and the parasite will take its first steps outside the host's skull.”

Short story based on a dream I had

I'm a child being driven to a relatives house.
I do not like them.
I glance up to look at the driver. They have no face.
No features to recognize.
The trip has been hours long and I've felt nauseous for most of it. I stare out a heavily tinted window, hoping to distract myself.
Outside I see a city. Grey buildings speed by, slowly merging with the plain hues of a cloudy sky. The nausea only grows stronger.
I sit in silence with my head resting against the car door. I close my eyes tightly, trying to ignore how the bumps in the road jostle my head against the flimsy plastic interior.
Suddenly, the car halts. I jolt forward and the seatbelt locks tightly around my neck. The door to my right swings open.
I've arrived.
A headache cracks through my skull for a brief moment as my eyes adjust. The outside is bright, yet sunless. The weather is almost unbearably dull. The grass beneath my feet is dead, sharp
and subtly painful to the touch. When I turn around, I find the car has vanished.
I'm frightened, yet somehow relieved.
All around me, I see a circular arrangement of empty buildings.
The structures loom like monolithic vultures, picking over a long dead horizon.
With few options, I approach the formation's center.
As I progress, the air slowly turns sour. With each breath, I feel it pooling in the back of my nasal cavity. A dry film swiftly forms around my tongue, drying my mouth. I am thirsty.
Just ahead, I see a strange pond. I begin to walk faster. The sound of rippling water grows with each step.
I look into the pond, now standing at its edge. The basin is bone dry, yet the phantom splashes are all I hear.
In the center of the barren pit, the blind carcass of a colossal
fish drifts weightlessly. Its body is a frail mess of dried flesh clinging tightly to a hollow bouquet of bones. The corpse swims from edge to edge, running its brittle body along the pond's rough border.
