Testing for a forthcoming Peepshow Collective event at Tokyo bike event I'll be making a couple of Risographs... this ia bit clunky... but you get the idea #kidsillustration
Loved creating this spread from my new book - Red Cat the firefighter. The design on the flaps features a smart little recess on three edges so the flap can be pulled open easily. Took a bit to get my head around but so nice : ) #kidlit #boardboards #spencerwilson
Hello people! I have a new board book in the shops today, published by Ladybird, called Red Cat the firefighter... whoop whoop... or should I say nee naw, nee naw. : ) It's nice and bright and you can lift the flaps to reveal extra bits... www.penguin.co.uk/books/457221... #kidlit #boardbook

Recent work for the Guardian, illustrating some tips that can help you feel happier and healthy in 5 mins... what's not to like about that. You can read it them here www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...
Spotted in the wild while doing the food shop… had some fun illustrating this article for the @newscientist.bsky.social for there festive issue about how to communicate with your dog and some new tech that could ( or not ) help ; )
At the start of this year I illustrated this intention… overall it’s been a year of ups and downs, but mostly I’ve been happy … so yeah…think less , do more.
Sometimes you gotta push….sometimes you gotta pull. Simple, bold illustration
Things that bring me joy… for my birthday this year I got this Dick Bruna light which gives a delicious yellow glow to an evening, coupled with this cosy crocheted blanket ( it’s huge) my daughter made sitting underneath a You & Me Anthony Burrill… lovely : )
Since April I've been working as Art Director and currently Lead Designer at Sun & Moon - alongside my usual freelance - on a fabulous show created by Turnip and Duck called 'Maddie and Triggs' You can watch the first 16 episodes via the iplayers www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis... Its superb!
Alongside the day to day printmaking brings me a lot of joy… and when I can I get the inks out. Currently I get digital art machined on to metal plates which I hand press. I love the process, the smell and I like to vary the pressure to give some nuance to each print… a kinda ‘makers mark’
Hi there Bluesky… for those that don’t know me I’m Spencer, an illustrator, sometimes art director, occasionally printmaker and father. I’ll be posting old stuff, new stuff, things that interest me and sharing posts I like. Until then, here’s one from the autumn of me looking up
