The trendy knit of the moment is the “melt the ice” hat - a pattern released by a Minneapolis yarn store based on a style of hat worn by Norwegian antifascists during WWII. I made myself one, had yarn left over, and thought… well the baby will need one too. And a sweater.

We drove through a snowstorm to get to afternoon tea yesterday and were rewarded with tasty treats and a charming view of people playing in the snow by the sea. After I took this photo the sun came up and we watched some teens work on rolling the world’s biggest snowball.
