David Sibley's illustration of an Allen's Hummingbird tail - the last two outer tail feathers on each side are unexpectedly skinny, like pin feathers. The two tail feathers left and right of the center are pointy, like a willow leaf, not notched at the tips as they would be on a Rufous hummingbird. Compare OP's photos to see the difference - notched feathers left and right of center with normal-shaped outer tail feathers

Knit them and wear them... cold weather only. Never in bed. All summer, it's flip flops.

I have a lot of Thanksgiving work ahead of me for the folks in our little overnight shelter, so I'm taking a moment of gratitude for friends, experiences, and creative work in my life. I'm grateful to have so many things and people to love 💕 (Alpine Bloom hat in Quince & Co. Chickadee + Spincycle)

Puppy! It's lovely that you were able to go get that joy. Even tho it's a cliche by now, I want to give you The Mary Oliver poem. You do not need to be a certain kind of way to be a beloved vibrant living being. It's ok to let yourself love a puppy. It's ok to come out or hang back.

Transgender and non-binary people have existed for all of recorded human history: every civilization, every country, every culture, every race, every ethnicity, every religion, every political system, every class, every profession, open and closeted, every year, every month, every day.

If you are trans or non-binary, you are part of a great and proud lineage, stretching all around the globe, all the way back to antiquity.

You should feel what you feel on any given day, but never let any government or any authority or anyone make you believe you're unnatural and undeserving of all the beauty life has to offer.

Never forget there is nothing more frightening to the inauthentic than living, breathing, loving proof of the unapologetically authentic.

Love yourself for who you are, give thanks for those who came before and taught us to love ourselves as we are, and remember that your existence is an ongoing catalyst for the liberation of all those around you, trans and non-trans, who are forced to be what they are not.

You are a miracle of the human spirit.
