OTD in Queer History-June 20, 1980: The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a drag group using satirical religious imagery, made their debut in San Francisco's annual Gay Freedom Day Parade, growing into a prominent, globally recognized org dedicated to street theater, advocacy, and human rights.
OTD in Queer History-June 2, 1951: Gilbert Baker, the artist and activist who designed the iconic rainbow flag, was born. His creation debuted in 1978 and has become the global symbol of LGBTQ+ liberation. The original Gilbert Baker Pride Flag had extra colors including pink and turquoise.
