Having built developer tools for half my career (literally!), I decided to build something “useless” this time. Today I’m announcing RubyLens, a gem that turns your Ruby codebase into a galaxy, as either a page or a video! Here’s an example using Discourse:
Haven’t posted my workout for a while. Did 70kg and (maybe) 72.5kg weighted pullup yesterday 😙
The biggest visible change is type information next to method documentation. RBS signatures now show up in both HTML and `ri`, and Aliki presents method entries as signature cards.
RDoc 8.0.0 is out now. This is the biggest RDoc release in years, and it brings together a lot of the Ruby documentation work I talked about at RubyKaigi. Also, RDoc now has a logo!
In the next release, cctop will help you clean up stale worktrees from your finished sessions!
After weeks of work, Ruby’s master documentation now displays rbs signatures! We will release this feature in RDoc 8.0 soon as well. So any projects using rbs (inline or .rbs files) can benefit from it too. Check it on docs.ruby-lang.org/en/master
IRB v1.18.0 was just released with: - Starting banner with Ruby and a few basic info (can be disabled with --nobanner) - Help dialog on commands - Highlighting on method calls Enjoy! #rubykaigi github.com/ruby/irb/rel...
RDoc server mode with live reload is almost ready for ruby/ruby. Currently `make html` takes 30-60s and you have to rerun it after every change. With `make html-server`, you get instant live reload. (Just found a bug with page links, but it's getting there) Here is a demo:
Yesterday I released cctop v0.11.0 with a redesign and 4 color schemes! If you want a lightweight macos app to help you monitor Claude Code/opencode sessions with keyboard navigation, give cctop a try: github.com/st0012/cctop
RDoc has always supported Markdown as a markup language. But its support was buggy and lacks documentation. After a year of addressing various related issues, I was able to rewrite a doc for it. I think we'll soon be able to migrate from RDoc to Markdown. ruby.github.io/rdoc/doc/mar...
Finally got a full #frontlever after entire year of training 😵 Skill difficulties from my experience: frontlever >> one arm pullup >>>>> muscle up
Never imagined I could do a 200% bodyweight pull-up (my weight + 60 kg plates) even in my early twenties—yet at 31, I got it today 😛
It’s been 6 years since my last visit, and @asakusarb still gave me the warmest welcome! Same good vibes, delicious food, and wonderful #rubyfriends. Grateful to be back in such a lovely community 🥰
