A late start to August Adventures! Here is my piece for the prompt "Song" - sometimes a lullaby is needed to lull mossmanders to sleep. #AugustAdventures2026 #AugustAdventures

Okay I'm not going to lie, having a dinosaur themed summer reading program at the library has been amazing. I was feeling lackluster about next year's mystery theme. But the sneak peek of the artwork is already adorable! I can't wait to see more of it! Artwork by Laurie Conley

I thrifted this big ArtBin that was missing a clip and found a 3D print file online. Then I got it printed at the library, hurray! It makes me happy to be able to replace something so small easily hehehe.

"Shriveled Saguaro" mixed media quilt wall hanging I drive by this saguaro regularly and have watched it decompose over the years. I took this photo with my Fuji DL-300 film camera and got it printed on fabric. I quilted on it with my domestic sewing machine.

Free motion quilting test on one of my fabric printed photos, it's fun! I don't want to completely cover it like a thread painting but also feel like I could go bolder with my thread color.

Finished the embroidery!!! Last two steps will be sewing some hanging loops and then sewing the self-binding and THEN IT WILL BE DONE

A few mindless doodles from last night. I've been having some big thoughts about my art, though it's been tough to get out of my own head about it.

I finished the word Home last night. There is one more word I have to embroider above it, but my forearm hurts aaaa. I am eager to get this quilt finished.

Okay I learned the first yarn I was using is wrong for this type of project, so I opted to get new yarn. Holy smokes, it's much better, yay! I'm excited to keep working on this quilt project! (I'm currently stitching the word "home" 😂)

Ended my three day weekend of decluttering on finding my favorite souvenir from Japan: handmade sewing needles and thread snips from Misuyabari in Kyoto, Japan. I lost track of these for over two years gah! In retrospect I wish I got sashiko needles, but I guess that means I have to go back!

I found all of the stuff I squirreled away during my trip to Japan in 2023. Tonight I worked on a junk journal / collage / scrapbook page for an eventual photobook I'd like to make for the trip. Here's the start of the Tokyo Skytree page - which was Chiikawa themed during my visit!

4/21 VAPE IT (in the library) This left me speechless... how would I even reply to that?

I decided to pick this project back up and forgot I quilted this before finishing the embroidery. Why did I do that three months ago, I don't know! Anyways, I tried using couching embroidery stitches with some reclaimed yarn and don't love it... fingers crossed I can find some new yarn this week. 🥲
