Tonight, it’s the Derby and Pasta alla Nerano. The perfect summer matchup.
Juiced some oranges so I could enjoy a lovely faux-mosa this morning. You know… for reasons.
Me, reading Lindsay Graham’s obituary ::Clap, clap, clap, clap your hands::
This year marks the 10th annual Fight B.A.C.K. (that’s the Bags Against Cancer Kegger) cornhole tournament to raise money for Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County. 64 teams, more than $10K raised. A great cause that I’m proud to be a part of.
Good morning, friends. I hope everyone has a peaceful and happy 4th. And? GO PHILS!
While we’re wallowing in Nola-induced misery, let's talk about dessert. I made this tart yesterday and am easing my Phillies woe with a slice right now. It's got almond praline in the bottom, a light biscuit sponge, fresh apricot confiture, and whipped vanilla ganache. Tasty.
Not me making Korean fried chicken + waffles for brunch today. Absolutely indulgent? YES. Do we deserve that? Also YES.
It's pizza night over here, and I've got two beauties on deck. One is roasted pineapple, bacon, and jalapeño (I'll make my case for this controversial pie in a few), and the other is shaved fennel, garlic, and sausage. Both are made with slow-risen dough that I started on Wednesday.
My feed from last night, bottom of the 9th with two outs and two strikes… AGAIN. I heckin’ love you people.
Made a proper Father’s Day breakfast with bacon, dippy eggs, and these lovely pickle biscuits (layers for days!) Husband has heard from all his kiddos, is lazily watching the U.S. Open, and is a happy boy.
To counter my Andrew Painter-and Phillies-related angst, I baked (it’s what I do). Today’s offering to the baseball gods is this lovely roasted peach cheesecake.
The Phils didn’t win today but WE did. This weekend’s dessert was this strawberry-lemonade cake with loads of fresh lemon, peak-of-perfection PA strawberries, and fresh strawberry buttercream. Deeeeee-lish.
Just throwing out a little bit of awesome: the view from our dinner table in Paris tonight. Bonne nuit, friends.
Headed to Paris tonight and hooooooooo boy… there is some WEATHER in ye olde Philly.
Today, there were no sports to either raise my blood pressure or break my heart (or both), so I baked. And folks, I wish I could share this rhubarb pie with you because it tastes a damn sight better than watching another basketebacle.
