Another G for green-tailed sunbird, sketched for the #birdwhisperer monthly challenge. I'll back to the alphabet tomorrow with a J named bird. 8min sketch today! Love all the colours this beautiful bird has. #birdart #sketchbook #illustration #animalart #birds
I is for the Ibadan Malimbe. These #birds are now rare and endemic to Nigeria, specifically near the city of Ibadan, where they get their name. Day 9. 5 min (with a pause to let my toddler add her scribble to the bottom right) #sketchbook #animalart #birdart #illustration
H is for Hadada Ibis. They're known for their distinctive "ha-da-da, ha-da-da, ha-da-da" call. The beak and eyes of this beauty really caught me. Day 8 (with a two day break). 7 min. #birds #birdart #illustration #sketchbook
G is for Gabela Helmetshrike. The eyes of this bird are so striking! Day 7 done. A quick one at 4min. #illustration #birdart #birds
F is for Flammulated Owl. What a name! These #owls are tiny, smaller then a Robin. But they're able to make these really low calls, making them sound larger. Day 6 (skipped the weekend) done. 6 min. #birdart #illustration #birds
E is for Eagle Owl (Eurasian). They have a large range and are the largest species of owl. Females are also bigger than males! Day 5 done. 6 min sketch today. #illustration #birdart #owls
D is for Dalmatian Pelican. They have a large range from the Mediterranean to Russia to China. Local conservation efforts (removing powerlines and building nesting platforms) have helped local populations, but monitoring populations is tricky. 7 min today. Day 4 done. #illustration #birdart
C is for the Caica Parrot. You can find these colourful birds in Brazil! Day 3 of my 5 min sketch series. #illustration #birdsketch #birdart
B is for the Bagobo Babbler. It's a very shy bird endemic to the Philippines. I just loved the name. Day 2 done. #illustration #birdsketch #birdart
Okay starting up an "art everyday" challenge! It's time for me to get out of an art slump and back to a daily practice. Going through the ABCs with quick 5 min sketches of birds to get started. A - Albatross. DAY 1 #sketchbook #illustration #birds
Hello #kidlitartpostcard day. Just finished the lineart for today, but wanted to share for the prompt "you as a child." As kids, I used to draw stories about my sister and I as "adventurers." We had a talking tiger companion too. I should try and find them... #MG #YA #covers stephaniebuosi.com
Happy #earthday!! Reposting an older favourite of mine in honour of the importance of dirt! We'll good soil health, specifically. Soil and dirt is key to healthy farms, healthy forests, healthy ecosystems, and healthy humans ☺️💚 #illustration #kidlitart
I love this question. Reminding ourselves of what we like about our work and what we're proud of is always a good practice! I really like how I draw birds. I have a lot of fun drawing them too! Here's a bird drawing that illustrates how I feel when I write 😅 #kidlitchat
Hello #kidlitartpostcard day! I'm a Canadian illustrator and designer, specializing in expressive animals, kids, and nature. I love fun storytelling that's silly, and big on emotions! I am open to all #kidlit projects, smaller editorial pieces, graphics or book covers. 🌿🕸️ stephaniebuosi.com
Happy Valentine's Day! I love celebrating this day. Beyond dates and roses and candy hearts, I see it as opportunity to celebrate all kids of love; between friends, family, pets and significant others. Wishing you a heartwarming #ValentinesDay. #kidlitart #illustration
The best compliment is hearing my client's little girl, whose mom commissioned me for illustrations featuring their #dogs, loves the illustrations. 🥰 These were so fun to draw! And for a very special place in the house (the nursery) #petillustration
Hi #kidlitartpostcard day! Froggies for today's postcard! Let's work together! #PB, middle grade, covers, magazines, personal projects. Although I specialize in nature and animals, I'm open to new projects and love a challenge! Check out more of my work at www.stephaniebuosi.com #kidlit
Morning #kidlitartpostcard day! I'm a Toronto illustrator who specializes in animals, nature, picture books and middle grade #kidlit illustration. This piece was inspired by the lovely, and (sometimes) misunderstood pigeon. Check out my portfolio www.stephaniebuosi.com Looking for representation.
...charm, storm and finally dawn. The power of books to form friendships and provide comfort through a dark and stormy night 😊🌲💚📖 Dawn I actually coloured digitally, whereas the others in the series were painted first and then finished digitally.
From the #folktaleweek challenge. Prompts go: dark, echo, rain, book...
Hi #kidlitartpostcard day! I actually have new art to share! Yay! This is the final panel for the #folktaleweek challenge, the prompt is "dawn." About me: I'm open for work and love drawing animal characters, nature, and middle-grade kids on adventure! Check out more at: 💚🌐 Stephaniebuosi.com
Day three of #folktaleweek is rain. Uh oh! The weather has turned! Good thing there's this handy cave right there ... #folktaleweek2025 #kidlitart #illustration
Day 2 #folktaleweek Echo. Our little fox is lead to a cave in the woods. He hears an echo, but is it his echo or someone else's? Should he go inside? #kidlitart #kidlit #folktaleweek2025 #illustration
Day one of #folktaleweek is dark! Our little hero is making his way through the dark woods, following a path lit by mushrooms? Is this a good idea? We'll see! #folktaleweek2025 #illustration #kidlitart #storytelling
A little sneak peak for #folktaleweek. Trying my best, little by little, to put some art together for this challenge, which I'm inspired by each year, but don't always have the time to participate in. But 15min a day seems to be making me some progress. #illustration #kidlitart
Not really a scary book in the typical sense, the ending is more sad, but the art work by Joohee Yoon is absolutely gorgeous 🥰 #kidlitart
Lol it's even fun when the house deflates their decor for the night 🤣 #kidlitart
Hello! I love this month, my neighbourhood goes wild with the spooky decor. My wins for the month: 1) finished my course on UI/UX design, and man what a course! A lot of hard work and started learning Figma 2) one of my pieces got accepted in a magazine! Can't share just yet though 🤫 #kidlitart
