685th Species for the garden arrived this morning in the form of a lovely female Oak Eggar. Only seen this species once previously - on a roasting hot morning on Crewkerne Railway station platform ~3 years ago, where it was causing widespread panic until I moved it to a bush #teammoth #cambsmoths

This strange year was amazingly ~35-40 species ahead of the previous best year (2025) a week or so ago - but worth considering the 2025 figures have all the gendet specimens included

The last 2 nights have seen totals of 193/73 (9 NFY) and 198/70 (6 NFY) - Hedya salicella was also NFG on 16-Jun-2026, as were Argyresthia pruniella and Phtheochroa inopiana last night... Not sure I know when the last time the garden list grew by so many over a couple of days! #teammoth #cambsmoths

This evenings garden caterpillar found 87 Cinnabar and 13 Toadflax brocade. Also a couple of 2-spot ladybirds and a Piasaura mirabilis carrying an egg sac (no photo of that one) #teammoth #cambsmoths

A small moth on the wall just inside the garden office doorway earlier was Parachronistis albiceps - not common in VC29 (cambsmoths.co.uk/micros.php?b...) and NFM #teammoth #cambsmoths

OK, this was also during daylight... I dont think short of collecting the larvae and rearing in isolation can get closer to certainty of an adult Yponomeuta malinellus than this newly emerged on the apple leaf next to the larval webs.. #teammoth #cambsmoths

Batia lunaria NFY last night, along with Acrobasis suavella and the rather unexpected Brachmia blandella - a Gorse feeder. VC29 is not renowned for its huge swathes of gorse - I can only think of 1 bush within ~15 miles. Year list now on 329 species #teammoth #cambsmoths

Lunar Hornet Moth (NFY) to the LUN lure this morning - latest in the day I think I've ever seen (in between 10:15 and 11:00). Earliest ever recorded as 15th June (in 2025), so again quite an early record! #teammoth #cambsmoths

Spotted this very fine delicate spinning across a vein on the garden Apple Tree earlier today - Obsi 100% Carcina quercana. Plenty of photos to confirm on lepiforum (and confirmed on FB) but Langmaid Palmer and Young say on the underside of the leaf... #teammoth #cambsmoths

Another busy trap - 219/65, with 11 NFY. Amazingly none of the 35+ Silver Y nectaring on a bush next to the trap made it into the trap, but the NFY were Tortrix viridana, Anarsia innoxiella, Chrysoteuchia culmella, Clouded Silver... 1/ #teammoth #cambsmoths

... And in the midst of all the Plusinae (all studiously ignoring the NI lure in the bush!), a lone Pyrausta aurata...

Seems that the Silver Y also like the Philadelphus that the Painted Ladies have been enjoying - counted 15 over the course of as many minutes just now. Decision not to light up tonight has been reversed.... #teammoth @migrantmothuk.bsky.social #cambsmoths

Saw a flash of orange in the unmown lawn at around 17:20 - Commophilla aeneana is quite a spectacular moth (with only ~7 records in #cambsmoths - the last was @sciencebase.com in 2023) Even more surprising was when a second perched in front of me at ~20:15! #teammoth
