The Barnacle Goose winters in the UK, but for centuries their breeding grounds in Svalbard lay undiscovered. The accepted view was that they spawned from barnacles (hence the name) and therefore were classified as fish. This meant catholics could eat them on Fridays. Some still do. #birdfacts
Oslo style negroni (raspberry, lavender & CO2 added). The thing on top is a meringue. Lovely.
Disappointed to discover that my favourite Norwegian chewing gum has been discontinued.
Just arrived in Oslo after a couple of weeks without internet in Svalbard… and oh look, they’ve done a sculpture of @seanrostron.bsky.social
A new pub for our little cabal. The charmingly named ‘Shit & Shovell’.
Swift half in the Harp. Classic London boozer. Remember being in here with @seanrostron.bsky.social before the 2009 final.
Having a nice holiday in the Outer Hebrides at the moment, but this hotel’s seen better days.
On me way to the ale house. Managed to push past this lot before they started their signature ‘I feel love’ routine.
