PE2: just isn't a vibe. structured like Ys1 where there's only three entire areas the entire game. variety is lacking in environments and enemies. PE energy is cool but lack of resource management isn't. many enemies are tiny or almost immobile and don't challenge you to maneuver enough in combat
batboy: suffers from lack of identity. wants to desperately be shovel knight without understanding what made it good. very bloated moveset that makes stage design impossible to design around. 2many options that leaves levels feeling unengaging as they don't know what to even specifically ask of you
well. that's two games i've played recently i started out having some hope in that have wound up leaving me pretty disappointed
