World’s 414th oldest Nerdfighter (perpetually). Still hopeful, even if it’s a bit harder after 11/5/2024. Runner, reader, writer, environmental political wonk. High school English teacher by day. Dad to world’s two best daughters all the time.
Finally topping 100 miles for the month before the last day. August will be much tougher, going back to work.
Very slow jog after sundown in the mid-80s, but almost didn’t run at all, so just getting out the door was a win. Lilet wanted to walk,(we did) and that got me inspired. Or something. Anyway, good win from the Dodgers today. All is well.
Some cloud cover back, but feeling more muggy/clammy than cooling. Press on regardless.
Late start (not too bad) after oversleeping—catching up after fish market experience overnight Friday/Saturday and a wonderful Obon celebration with the Pasadena Buddhist Temple yesterday.
Lost yesterday to plain old laziness, lost most of last night’s sleep to a trip to San Pedro Fish Market. Bon Festival today with Pasadena Buddhist Temple, though, so excited for that.
I have good neighbors, for the most part. Best run in a while, despite heat. Not that that’s a high bar…
The competition. Can still take him four days a week. Better than yesterday, still a bit sore. Imperative get out early, ideally before six. Hot this week.
Wogging recovery run, weird weather spitting on the sidewalk, but drying up faster than another drop can wet the concrete beside it.
Well, returning was certainly easier than getting there! Took about half as much time not pausing to evaluate whether I should call in the rescue team every thirty steps in the last (first, today) three miles.
Yesterday’s Yosemite hike. Includes a couple extra loops where I lost the trail. Was not prepared for the climb, but survived.
One last morning run before heading up for backpack excursion into Ten Lakes, Yosemite, home away from home.
Just a little bit late out the door, but not bad. Temps still lower 70s. Aimyon to “Novocaine” playlist still excellent.
Late run after sundown, but at least managed to get out and do something. Had to follow up Dodger loss.
Still a favorite run, and felt great to finish under 11:30s given the outbound climb. Great weather for the Fourth. Happy Independence, all.
Out before 6:30, beautiful morning, but the deep marine layer seems to be over. July is likely to make up for the cool June weather. Well, Fire up.
Vacation rolling right along. Feeling good. Hope everybody out there is doing well.
Fog was gone, but heavy cloud cover continues to make the start of summer blissfully cool for running. Probably going to be a lost memory soon. Summer will appear, you can bet on that. Probably with a vengeance.
Missed yesterday for a day in Pasadena with PBT’s Dodger/Bingo fundraiser. Good time yesterday and another cool morning today. No complaints.
Excellent morning. Hopefully I can still get in for an oil change this afternoon, but getting an acceptable “Cedar Dawn” produced was worth the delay.
Another cool foggy morning let me get in seven and still keep them under 11:30 without pushing too hard. Nice while it lasts.
Unusually cool and foggy this morning, plus an early start made running best in a while. (Fog still burned off by eight, but I was on downhill return leg by then.)
Start before seven, run all the way. Or, jog, anyway. Start after eight, regret it. Summer. Our first tomogayaki.
Slow out the gate trying to decode hiragana output on the desktop, so it was already beginning to warm a bit, but overall a nice morning. Prepared to run even longer with this 8 hour+ playlist.
Morning was cool & overcast…but we went to town for gardening supplies. Ended up with this midday jog/wog. Still only upper 70s, but that isn’t lower 60s. C’est la’vie.
Better day than yesterday. The last wisps rising from the hillside across the Canyon.
