.... the visit was mainly to see the Southern Migrant Hawker dragonflies that inhabit the adjacent "Southern Gullit" and we found 3 of which one was both curious and confiding. @britishdragonflies.bsky.social

A grand afternoon visiting Ravensthorpe reservoir in #Northamptonshire. Despite or because of it's regular mowing the dam is a spctacularly good Small Copper site. They must lay eggs elswhere but nectar is plentiful on the dam bank. As are butterflies.. @savebutterflies.bsky.social

Best find of the day was this Willow Emerald damselfly @warwickshirecc.bsky.social Ryton Pools Country Park.Spotted in the partial shade by my extremely sharpeyed friend.We waited until light came between the leaves and put it in the spotligh. @britishdragonflies.bsky.social

A Teasel patch has sprung up at #AshlawnCuttingLNR. Yesterday wesaw Silver Washed Fritillarys feeding on the flowers so it was my destination in the heat of the day to watch them on flowers and resting in the shade of Field Maple @bcwarwickshire.bsky.social @warwickshirewt.bsky.social

Not only was the "Healthy Living Walk" at #AshlawnCuttingLNR a hit with the RHS Britain in Bloom judges earlier in the week on Tuesday. Rugby Wildlife Group were back at KIlsby Lane LWS today extending the path tha bisects the site from North to South passing through aclearing (glade) that we discovered had been cleared for an illegal plant allotment! We grow Ragwort and Thistles there now :-). #conservation #grassland restoration

A convivial and enthusiastic gathering of 15 came to the guidd walk in search of woodland butterflies in Ryton Wood today. Enjoying @bcwarwickshire.bsky.social Ryton Meadows before moving into the wood. White Amiral,Siver Washed fritillary,Purple Hairstreak and flying Purple Emperor were seen.

Thanks to the friendly local butterfly lover who told us about the confluens silver Washed Fritillary. I've always found Valesina in Hazleborough but didn't realise that Bucknell was known for it's aberrations.

Rugby Group volunteers were back at KIlsby Lane LWS to cut another length of perimeter path today down to the brook on the Eastern side. We like the piecemeal aproach where a small percentage of the unimproved grassland is cut and raked off each week.
