FWIW, and I only noticed this because I was curious if it was playing nearby, in the Bay Area at least, it's doing a lot more than 1 to 2 shows a day. Even our tiny local suburban Cinemark has it running 6 times a day all weekend. Don't know how that will impact box office, but I was kinda shocked.

Letterboxd last four Friday? Sure, I'm game. (Still very surprised at what a delight THEY WILL KILL YOU was. Wonderfully staged horror sequences and fights. A fantastic soundtrack. Fun performances. Amazing practical effects. One of my favorite films of the year, so far.)

[He also doesn't know it, but this is one of the last times he will be in the same room with three of his dear friends, all of whom will die over the next few years.]

Intro'd my new Draw Steel character last night. Yes, it's my dead character, brought back by a benevolent elven Saint with her look from before life in the Shadowfell. And she's a Conduit. And she's sober for the first time in centuries. And trying to be in touch with her emotions. Very confusing.

First time I saw this was in 75mm on opening night and I was high as a kite on painkillers after a major surgery the day before. But I wasn’t going to miss opening night in 75mm, right? I remember loathing the anti-astronaut truthers appropriately, loving the astonishing visuals, hating what I recall as a mustache twirling villain turn from Damon, and digging the very Grant Morrison-esque “beyond the speed of love” ending.

On re-watch most of those memories held true except I did not remember John Lithgow being in this—an actor who’s presence is at this point as welcome as a cold shart into my coffee on a wintery morning—and I mellowed a bit on Damon’s heel-turn performance.
