Wildly swerving between cozy pictures of sewing projects and cats, and what some people call 'politics'. I write weird because doing a PhD messed up my writing.
Lost two hours of my life driving this little one to the animal rescue centre. I don't even like pigeons.
I love this guy. I sat further down the sofa so I wouldn't disturb him, as he is still quite a flighty boy (he's a rescue), and after a few minutes he got up, turned around, and settled back down with his back pressed against me. Such a cuddlebunny when he can relax enough to let himself.
How was my weekend? Well, let me tell you, it was a *little* bit stressful...
Skimmed the Men's Fitness magazine from the library. I've been wondering why even I have noticed some of the 'information' was... well...not rigorously researched. Then saw an article this month with this VERY clearly AI image ACROSS A DOUBLE SPREAD. Shameless slop! They didn't even check the hands!
This is the most recent version, still more than a third is just a picture I don't seem to be able to turn off?
Yup, and the image on the post above is misleading, as I'm not even talking about the bit with the data in, just the picture - you can see on the screenshot below how much wasted space there is.
Finished this secret santa gift for a friend, using up some of the fabric stash to get me in under the value limit. It was really enjoyable to make something specific and relatively simple, and to bring into concrete reality wishes of shelter, warmth, comfort and protection for them. #sewing
Hung out with this chonky girl this weekend, who got a lot of fuss from me (whenever the dog would let me).
Went to the Manchester Art Fair, which houses Manchester Contemporary, and the best thing there was this amazing orange puffa-jacket for an orange safety cone. I loved it. So much detail, whimsy and joy. And quite an antidote to the beige works.
Amused myself this evening by drawing the first part of a winter scene on my window using cheap paint pens. Hands really hurt, and it probably would have been easier with real Posca pens, but I'm still happy with the results.
One of my absolute favourite Tom Cardy songs. Perfect for apooky season! What a banger!
Tacked up enough white EPP pieces to start to think about how I will lay out this quilt. I think it's going to look like this, perhaps. For this layout I could make the white pieces as stretch hexagons rather than the rhomboids you see here. Not sure what would look better though. #quilting
Enjoying this Hawaiian Ulu #samplerquilt block made in the traditional way with needle turn appliqué much more than yesterday's Dresden. I'd like to make a full size Hawaiian style quilt at some point in the future, though this style is very hard on my hands so it'll probably take ages. #quilting
Awaiting the white sheets I have ordered to supply the necessary white fabric for my EPP project, I have returned to do some of the #SamplerQuilt blocks from Lynne Edwards. Not super interested in this appliqué Dresden Plate but I was pleased to finish it. #quilting
Something inspired by this. Except more chill, all greeny-blues, and probably with more white space. And EPP not machine pieced. My partner is a fabricator so I sat with him and used his skills to get the templates drawn up; I eyeballed the proportions rather than measured anything, v enjoyable.
Had a lovely week on the western Welsh coast - 'where the mountains reach the sea' - and I will definitely be back. This was the view from the back of the place we stayed. We were often battered by winds but that was part of the charm.
Yesterday's dinner was fish and chips with a view. You can tell this is the countryside, because the gulls showed no interest in robbing us.
No idea what I shall do with these, but aren't these printed cottons from Abermaw Quilt and Craft lovely? The Christmas animals are so cute and the blue waves very hyper, I love them. Did not cave to the wonderful black-grey William Morris prints, I do not have WM money 😆 www.quiltandcraft.co.uk
No filter needed on the western coast of Wales, though it was absolutely exhausting walking several miles of sandy beach in strong winds. Very happy to find coffee and cake in this little town this afternoon.
