It’s finally here. The biggest film day of the year (well, at least for me anyway!)
Was quite looking forward to The Last Viking. Adored Anders Thomas Jensen’s last film, the brilliant Riders of Justice. Like RoJ, the tone is all over the place but unlike that film, it doesn’t work at all here. Still it has its moments (Nikolaj Lie Klaas in white boxers being 1 of them).
Had to watch some Sam Neill. Could’ve gone for Jurassic but picked this utterly lovely comedy instead. If you’ve never seen this, I can’t recommend it more.
And this just makes that moment even better, that it was his idea, not Spielberg’s.
2nd watch of Disclosure Day. I know plenty didnt rate it but I still really liked it, despite the usual excessive Spielberg run time and *that* ridiculous scene.
The Furious had a clunky script and some ropey acting but when the fight scenes are this OTT, this brutal, this much fun, you absolutely do not care!!
3rd Nolan in 3 days. I may have only seen it live in April but couldn’t resist another big screen watch, esp when it was with a mate who hasn’t seen it that way.
Tonight’s film.. Been hoping and waiting for one of the chains to show this in the lead up to The Odyssey but sadly not. Nolan’s 2nd best film.
The Giant’s Causeway was everything I hoped it’d be. Awesome in the truest sense of the word.
Hair and beard (beard a little bit too much!) sorted. Feeling my oats enough to post it.
Tonight’s watch… One of my dad’s faves and one I’m hugely fond of. “We shail into history!”
Time to put the Woody and the gang into storage for good. Toy Story 5 was easily the weakest of the lot. But it’s not without moments (one early on was 💔💔) where it gives you all the feels.
This was tough, choosing just 5. (Couldn’t not pinch it from insta) Raiders of the Lost Ark Aliens Die Hard Jurassic Park The Dark Knight Rises
4K rerelease of Boogie Nights at the pics tonight. Not seen it in 20 years. Forgotten how good it was. The performances, the direction (that opening sequence 🤩), the ambition…all hint at the absolute masterpiece that was to follow.
Have never liked watching footy on ITV but at least they’ve got Mata on for this 😍
2 I-really-shouldn’t-have-but-couldn’t-help-myself purchases, Had to get Thunder, Lightning, Strike live, seeing as I was that gig and it’s one of my all time faves. Plus David Gray’s best album on lovely blue vinyl.
