Waiting in the car in front of Thriftway when a woman 20 years my senior walked up, leaned against the propane tank storage cage, and started to light a cigarette. She moved a few feet away when I pointed at the “flammable” sign. I was almost collateral damage in a really boring action movie.
This is the look of a cat who does not appreciate being told to go talk to the person who is actually in the kitchen. He is more than 17 and 3/4 years old, and he does not have time for my nonsense.
“Look, Mom! He likes it!” This is how the teen brought my poor sweet baby to me. It’s been a rough week today. This moment of levity lasted 30 seconds before Potato Cat fell off the ottoman. [The cat is fine and back to being naked. I don’t think he’s forgiven anyone yet, though.]
While I could have been catching up on sleep earlier this morning, this little one (also known as “Bad Baby”) was conducting experiments with gravity and human behavioral psychology. I thought I was clever moving my water before she could get to it. She instead slapped my phone off the desk.
TLDR: I now know everything there is to know about San Francisco that I could learn while staring from a bus and listening to Britney Spears.
We’re on Lombard, but I feel like we are going the wrong way and way too slow.

If the Tacoma Public School District doesn’t know how to make up for the budget shortfalls that “prevent” the district from addressing labor violations, ADA violations, split grade classrooms, or understaffed schools, I think I found a prime example of an unnecessary expense. 4/
I have some other ideas, too, and I’m sure I’ll run the risk of being called a Pollyanna for sharing them. But if certain factions of the government are doing their best to squash hope, then unbridled idealism and unchecked enthusiasm are exactly how we need to respond.

Sharing this here as a reminder of why ADA matters even when able-bodied colleagues find it “inconvenient.” This is what the inside of my arm currently looks like because a male colleague ignored repeated requests to keep pathways clear. He still has his job while I no longer work at that school.
I started Wednesday undergoing a complex surgery to address a 2-year-old work injury in Silverdale, and ended the day sobbing in the Tacoma St. Joseph’s parking lot after dealing with condescension, gaslighting, and rough treatment by their staff. Note in my chart an hour after discharge:
I was considering running away from home this morning and leaving the household to fend for itself, but then Pixel sat on me. Damnit.
Ok, so huge races like County Council 5 still showing zero and other races have numbers next to percentages with only weird symbols in the box. This seems like an issue that should have been resolved before election night.
Me: planning to sleep in until 8. My 25-lb cat stomping on me to tell me no, that’s not going to happen.
