Hello #portfolioday, almost missed you again. I’m Chris, a 3D artist & illustrator from the PNW. linktr.ee/sweaterparrot
The Zium Digest Oratorio's electrical counterpart - The Tape Player (sound on). It was totally overkill for this project but I rigged this thing up as a puppet so you can control the individual animations using your keyboard, as I'm doing in this video.
Some face time with the Zium Digest Oratorio, a character I designed and modelled recently. I hadn't made a funny little guy in years, and it felt good to flex that muscle again after all that time
There comes a time in every 3D artist's life where they must make a fence using Geometry Nodes in Blender. That time in my life has finally come
For the past several months I have been working on without a doubt the most complicated art thing I've ever worked on, and I'm very excited to share the full thing with the world very soon.
I recently had the pleasure of designing & coding The Zium Digest Oratorio, a free companion application launching alongside the latest project by the Zium: the Zium Digest. Out on April 15, 2026!
Bloomington House (incl. closeups). Had a lovely time working on this recent commission of a cozy childhood home.
Decided this year to play some old games that I have no nostalgia for, starting with the original Deus Ex from 2000. I knew I was going to enjoy it but wasn't expecting to get as engrossed as I did. I'm going to miss this crunchy, often endearingly janky, mysterious world
Here's the kind of thing I'm using this for - using the r channel of the vertex color to gradually control the wave intensity of this water
I'm kind of proud of this Blender script I managed to write that creates a vertex color gradient between two colors, starting with the vertices you've selected and ending x distance away. Extremely helpful for a lot of the shader-writing I've been doing lately
I almost missed #PortfolioDay! I’m Chris, a 3D artist/illustrator from the PNW. I've been getting more into Game Art this past year. linktr.ee/sweaterparrot
2025 in a Nutshell (Music: my short rendition of Alice in Chains' Nutshell)
Same - it still is! I remember when my dad bought it it came together with Poser 3, an equally bonkers piece of software
Bryce3D. It's important for the interface of any 3D software I use to also be in 3D, to remind me how many dimensions we're dealing with here
I should be working on other things but I keep getting distracted by my "the forklift job minigame from Shenmue but an entire game of it" game idea
Hello #portfolioday. I'm Chris, an 3D artist & illustrator from the PNW. Lately I've been getting more serious about game development as well. sweaterparrot.com linktr.ee/sweaterparrot
I ported the project over to the BIRP an experiment, and with very little work it immediately looks way better. Anyone else run into this? It seems like this is a well known thing & there are several unity forum threads about it, but "skill issue" and "learn urp" are usually the responses. (2/2)
I am battling it out with URP, trying to get reasonably crisp hard shadows. The best I've been able to get it to look is this first image - note the jagged edges and the fragmented shadows around the smaller objects. This is at the highest shadowmap resolution, cascade 0, etc. HOWEVER: (1/2)
I'm loving how simple scripting is in Blender is so far! Especially because I could never really get the hang of it in Cinema 4D. Great for one-off things like creating a new hole at an arbitrary point in the middle of the course and needing to rename a bunch of stuff
