Getting a lot of ads for trucking companies looking for drivers? I've either broken my algorithm or am being hacked
As a longtime thick frames wearer I'm considering picking up a pair of George Costanzas
I guess I shouldn't be surprised but it's interesting that the algorithm had a rw bias this whole time. And they still cried about it!
Our new fridge has an icemaker that can automatically make ice spheres, so NG has named it "Penelope Sphere Ice"
NG found this sticker on a slipper over a year ago and we don't know what it could be for so we're choosing to believe that something consequential could happen tomorrow
if you DO adjust for inflation, there's a gentle slope up with a weird mountain in the middle when covid happened. This broke a lot of people's brains, but it was because of that unemployment spike. Overall it's still higher than in 2019
You could look at this and conclude that grocery prices went up 31% over 7 years, and that sucks, sure. But wages (not adjusted for inflation) are up at least 38% over that time period. FRED data for this only goes to Q3 2025
Our household grocery expenses were remarkably steady from 2018-2024, though the data is noisy. I should do a moving average. Note the spike in March 2020
I'm seeing some affordability discourse again so I thought it might be fun to reshare some charts of my expenses since 2018. There's a jump in 2024, which, if representative of others' experience explains why inflation was such a big deal during the election
"Description generated by doordash using AI" NO. Just tell me what's in the fucking soup. You expect me to order and eat food that you can't even bother to describe
1. this is awesome 2. my exported page content is getting stuck in an unclosed style tag
Algorithm update: getting ads now that are just for like, a middle-aged guy playing bass and singing. Or this guy who is clearly unwell
