This really sums up why we need internet anonymity.

So who, exactly is anonymity for?

It's for the teenage girl who lost her mother when she was young, just got her period for the first time, and is to embarrassed to meet with a school nurse.

It's for the 45-year-old who hasn't drunk in years but is realizing that he's struggling with his sobriety and needs to talk privately about it.

It's for a woman coming to terms with the fact her boyfriend is abusive and figuring out how to get away from him without his knowledge.

It's for a Chinese immigrant who wants to speak about human rights abuses he witnessed at home without his family in Beijing paying the price for his words or repression following him abroad.

It's for a factory worker looking for resources about how to report unsafe conditions without losing his job.

It's for a college freshman who needs to talk about being gay without fearing his family will learn of it before he's ready to tell them.

It's for a grandmother who just received a breast cancer diagnosis and wants to discreetly discuss her anxiety about a mastectomy,

It's for a priest dealing with depression who doesn't know how to manage his feelings of emptiness amidst his duties to his parish.

It's for anyone who has ever experienced a fear, thought, idea or emotion that need to express but aren't ready to share with colleagues, family, friends, or acquaintances or authority figures.

One of the problems with the Nordic model is that it encourages police to surveil sex workers. Sex workers dont need state surveillance, they need safety.

We end up with systems that treat arrest as intervention, confuse surveillance with protection, accept family separation and incarceration as "unfortunate but necessary" Without sex workers, feminism loses the ability to recognize when “help” is coercion, or who pays the price.

Who pays the price?

Erasure never hits evenly. Policies built without sex workers land hardest on:

Black and Indigenous women

Migrants

Trans people

Disabled people

Poor and working class survivors

The margins always absorb the damage.

Did you know the attorneys general for Missouri, Kansas, and Idaho actually made the argument that fewer pregnant teens is an injury to the state in a lawsuit designed to ban access to birth control via the mail? ballsandstrikes.org/law-politics...

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach, and Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador—all Republicans—take issue with this. Abortion access decreases teen pregnancy, and they seem to think that is a bad thing.

“Remote dispensing of abortion drugs by mail, common carrier, and interactive computer service is depressing expected birth rates for teenaged mothers in Plaintiff States,” the attorneys general allege in the complaint, which was filed before forced birth enthusiast Judge Matt Kacsmaryk in the Northern District of Texas’s Amarillo Division. They claim that decreased births constitute “a sovereign injury to the state in itself,” and causes downstream injuries like “losing a seat in Congress or qualifying for less federal funding if their populations are reduced.” In other words, uteri are state slush funds, and girls owe the state reproduction once they are capable of it.
