Cloud studies as light/colour practice, and because I suck at clouds. Also, apparently, I can't draw a single vertical line without a slant.

7 digital studies of various clouds, two are at sunset, 3 during the day, there's a huge, dark storm cloud in the bottom left corner, and one is probably at an early stage of sunset.

New sketchbook doodles. I really like it, the paper is so nice, I was pleasantly surprised when I got it. Also, the pages are sort of yellowish cream colour. Also also, I really love the purple and read leads, and I've already decided I'm going to get refills of those. #SciArt

Andreolepis has seen horrors beyond its comprehension.

So, like, at what point do they realise that they are, in fact, the bad guys here? Like, you'd think that "oh, we're starting a war to bring about the apocalypse" would be enough, right? You have no leg to stand on when it comes to talking about religious extremism and terrorism, bc wtf is this?

Ok, but what if ancestrally furry dicynodonts? And therefore a scraggly Lisowicia?? There is a possible Permian hair in gorgonopsid(iirc) coprolite, so... Maybe? Also: i is pronounced like English e, w like v, and c is a "ts" hissy sound. #Sciart #art #animalart #extinct

Digital ink sketch of the giant dicynodont Lisowicia from the Triassic period. Only the head and neck are shown. I don't know how to describe the thing. It has a beak. The top part of the beak is larger than the bottom, with a sort of blade-like projection on the side. It has thickened, thick skin covering the front of the face, and the top of the neck and head are covered with rough bumpy skin. The neck is very thick. The head shape superficially resembles that of crest-less ceratopsids I guess? With the back of the skull being the tallest part of the head. Sorry, I don't think that's a very good description, but that's the best I can do. Also dicynodonts are stem-mammals.

So, I'm kind of looking for a bag, and... It has glow in the dark eyes. It's too small for me, but I wasn't expecting a row of toads when I opened the tab.

Warm up doodles. Started as planar analysis (which I suck at and should do more of), but then I decided to transform them into sketches. The bear is my favourite, I think, even though it broke my brain a little, for some reason. #Sciart

"I don't need a gimmicky art program", she said... Anyway, here are some Estemmenosuchus mirabilis doodles. I usually don't add keratin onto the horns, but this time I did. Not sure if I'm happy with that or not, but doodling was fun, so there's that. #sciart #paleoart

Progress is being made, but I'm going to have a lot of clean up to do. I also vacuumed the canvas twice already, and it's still covered in tiny specks that just refuse to leave. I also never thought that vacuuming a painting is something I'd ever do. #wip

In a shocking turn of events, I'm actually doing the thing. This one's going to be a real case of "trust the process". Also the moon isn't going to be red, I haven't completely lost my mind, it's getting metal leafed.

Ok, so technology confuses me today. It's the same exact file, just the right is viewed in krita, and the left in the image viewer. The thumbnail also looks like the image viewer one. It shows on my phone like it does in krita. So like, what???

And also, as a distraction, I've FINALLY decided to start working on this ginormous canvas I've been sitting on for, I think, over 10 years. Naturally I decided that it's the perfect opportunity to experiment with a lot of stuff I've never done before. What could go wrong? #WIP

Yelling foxes are my go to when I'm feeling overwhelmed, so here's today's warm up. I kind of like it, I may make it into a full painting at some point. Without the waaa though, probably, because I have no idea how to incorporate that in a way that makes sense. Could be a good challenge though.

I've decided to make a series of paintings of conservation success stories, starting with this here żubr/ wisent/ European bison. They were almost driven to extinction in the early XX century, and the current population is descended from about 17 animals, thanks to the efforts of prof. Jan Sztolcman

I'm physically incapable of posting at normal hours, and here's an Inostrancevia doodle for you. I couldn't be bothered with paws, because hands/feet can be the bane of your existence even if you don't typically draw humans. #sciart #sketch #paleoart

It's a quadruped, with a long head and a muscular neck, and a somewhat low slung body. The limbs sort of end at the ankle and wrist joints, because I couldn't be bothered to draw the paws. Which, I think, almost makes the legs look longer than they actually are. The tail is somewhat short, ending at about the level of the knee.
It has its mouth slightly open, showing the long upper canine teeth similar to those of the sabertooth cats.
The animal is hairless, with a rough bumpy skin on the top of the head and neck. There are three scars crossing the snout below the nostril.

True to form, here I am, posting a #wip past 2 AM. I'm finally happy with the direction this is going, though there's still a few tweaks I need to do. But at least it no longer looks like a muppet. #sciart #blender #paleoart

3d portrait of the Permian mammal relative Inostrancevia. It's shown in three quarter view, though mostly from the front, facing the camera and looking at the viewer. The background is black, and the animal emerges from the darkness, with the top of the head receiving the most light, and the neck quite a bit darker, and getting progressively more visible closer to the head. The bottom jaw and the underside of the neck are covered by a pretty dark shadow, with the light coming from the top and the front.
The animal is brown, with light cream bottom jaw and the underside of the neck, and the top of the head and the eye area is a darker brown than the rest of the body.
The left eye is almost completely obscured by shadows, the right one is somewhat well lit. The eye is warm yellow colour.
There are numerous small scars scattered on the snout, as well as three larger, deeper gashes on the right side, starting at the bottom of the upper lip, coming towards, but not reaching the right nostril.
The animal doesn't have any hair, just thick, leathery skin, that's bumpier on the top of the head and neck.

An eye spot is barely visible on the back of the right ear.
Homotherium had shorter canines than the more famous Smilodon, so they're not visible while the mouth is closed.
