80 years ago today, my Dad was born! Part of the Baby Boomers, he grew up to join the Navy during Vietnam before a bullet in his back forced him home. He then majored in law, dropped out, married, divorced, & married again, leading to my birth. Though he's gone, he's never forgotten. Love you Dad ❤️⚓️
So good news: thanks to donations from friends & one very generous patron, we managed to pay off any expenses for the month plus get food. Bad news: I was informed I owe the DMV $1k for unpaid fees I only JUST found out about yesterday that resulted in my car reg being suspended with threat to tow!
It was rebranded as blaxploitation after it was marketed decades later, and many critics shunned the title as it was trying to push the film as what it was set to stand against. He wasn't trying to be a White Savior, not to mention isn't even white to begin with.
Oh the satirical 70s film based of the Uncle Remus folk tales. I'd forgotten about it, but it was to my understanding it was a heavy satire on racial stereotypes of the era. It's shocking, but doesn't pull punches on racist depictions, and Bakshi had intended it to be an "anti-white" film.

Today is a special #MemorialDay as I honor my late father, USN SCPO Richard Meza, for today I'm eating his childhood meal at The Hat, newly opened here in Vegas. He loved this place dearly in Cali, so I feel truly blessed to dine here in his memory. Love you & miss you Dad. This one's for you ♥️⚓️
