I used to make video game and tech content as a day job, from 2007 to 2020. Now I do QGIS stuff, Ignition SCADA things and water loss reduction shenanigans. I also write books that aren't very good. And I'm trying to make a game about a duck. Also, I run.
Got a pair of new running shoes. Managed to set a new 5k personal best. The shoes are just 50g lighter than the previous ones, but the difference is gigantic.
A, wonderful news, let's see how people are reacting to it... Ah, yes, it seems that Steam has ruined people's brains.
I often wonder why I bother to show up to work early or on time when no one else seems that interested.
In 2023 I managed to run 99km in a year. That's when I took part in the first 4k run at the Braila half-marathon. This month alone I have covered 100km and ran my first half-marathon distance. I'm still not fast, but I a really far away.
Take your time. I'm not going anywhere this year. (I miss these estimations, they used to be all the rage back in the day)
More than that, my HR dropped an entire zone lower. Now, provided the sensor didn't go crazy... and.. well, the sensor on the old watch wasn't super either, but, I can feel it. I've gotten to the point where I can run well. I mean, I'm not fast, can't do 6m/km for more than 1.5k, but it's progress.
When I started to really get into running, in 2023, I did my first 5K at about the same pace. Looking over the stats, I added a lot of Tempo.
Ran a half-marathon distance for the first time ever. Took 2:58:12. It didn't feel easy, but I had an average pace of around 8:27 (strava says 8:17 because it stopped counting when I was refilling water bottles and so didn't record the entire 3 hours, losing me that challenge trophy this month).
How in the 12 endless hells is the Windows 10 weather widget weigh over 600mb? How is it incapable of fitting onto a CD? What's in it? What can be in it? How do you get to this level? Does it locally hosts all the ads they've shoved into it?
Got an e-mail earlier today, at work, with a popup that I'm glad no one saw. There needs to be a better way to title these, IWA.
1:15:14 finish time, plus the 3 minutes it took to get to the starting line. Not by best time, but enough to finish the 10k race at the OMV Bucharest half Marathon event.
Survived. Made a 1:10:07 new 10K PB. I was hoping for under 1:10:00, but I goofed.
Periodically, I am reminded that even our park is in the shape of a knife. (Context: This is the Monument park in the city of Braila, Romania. The city has a reputation as the knife crime capital of the country since... about 100 or so years I guess. )
To this day, this is probably still the greatest thumbnail I've ever made for a video on Youtube
Finally. With DLSS5 I can Yaaaaasify all video games. The dream of everyone that ever made a video game has come true. Gone are the days of making a character look like something. Everything is Yaaaaasified out of the box. The prophecy of this picture has been brought to live by Nvidia.
The game every Fallout fan praises for the good writing vs the game with the good writing.
At some point, I have to ask someone who knows. Did having a frame be composed of just shades of a single color save on performance? Is that why they did it? Because anyone who loves their eyes would have not done this without a good reason. I have to know. Say, @jesawyer.bsky.social , any clue?
I'm out there somewhere in the dark reaches of the outer rim, between the spanish, the polish and the web developers.
