Quick rundown as I head out: ICE called a fix a flat service to change their tires on one of the vehicles that has two flats and is parked in the roadway on Rockaway Parkway and East New York Ave. it is joined by three other vehicles, one of which has no registration sticker. White Ford ‘Interceptor’ is down for the count on Rockaway Parkway & East New York Ave across from an elementary school. It’s accompanied by a second vehicle, a silver Nissan Pathfinder. A second Pathfinder just pulled up behind the two. None have hazards on despite blocking a lane of traffic.

Communique by anon author(s) state this is the fifth time this facility has been targeted and note Magellan operates multiple facilities in NYC & NY. “Take regenerative action!” it demands to readers. “If not you, then who. If not now, then when?” All provided anon, no named group entity.

The other night we took action against Magellan Aerospace in Corona, Queens, NY, smashing all 7 windows and spray painting our messages: MAG KILLS KIDS, and GAZA REMEMBERS. As tar as we know, this is the 5th time this location has been targeted in the last 2 years. We won't rest until Magellan, and ALL war mongering, genocidal companies either leave NY, or go up in smoke!

In addition to various weapons components, they've been producing tail assemblies for F-35s for over a decade, as part of the F-35 supply chain spanning parts factories across 25 countries. Fighter jets are weapons of mass destruction, supplied to terrorist white supremacist entities, like the US and
"israel", to wage genocide on Palestine, and a global war of terror
against resistance and anti-colonial movements.
Magellan has facilities in Canada, UK and across the US, with 3 buildings right here in Corona, Queens, This is military
infrastructure embedded in a civilian area, in the heart of an immigrant neighborhood, surround by houses, with pre-k, elementary, and middle schools on the same block!

In addition to the Queens facilities, there are 2 locations in Long Island, NY. All 3 have received taxpayer funded grants through NY's Empire State Development program.
Governor Hochul in particular has been pushing NY to be a major developer of aerospace and Al tech, which are in fact WMDs.
Magellan is majority owned and chaired by
N. Murray Edwards, a Canadian oil sands and mining billionaire worth over $2.7 billion, responsible for polluting waterways in one of Canada's worst mining disasters, in Mount Polley, BC. Magellan also rakes in over $1 billion in annual revenue, growing rapidly every year. This multinational corporation should not be robbing taxpayers to subsidize their profits!

PEN America president Dinaw Mengestu resigned after this article that victimizes supporters of Israel and zionism. Article follows multiple instances of PEN America’s censorship of antizionists & support for genocidal extremists. Writers Against the War on Gaza commends Mengestu’s resignation:

On Friday, July 10, PEN America President Dinaw Mengestu resigned from his position following PEN America's publication of a report on Israeli and Jewish writers who "[face] rising isolation and exclusion." The report reiterated PEN America's "longstanding position" against cultural and academic boycotts—a stance we understand to have been formed in reactionary opposition to specifically Palestinian and pro-Palestinian political speech.
We salute Mengestu's principled decision. We also take this opportunity to remind PEN America that the normalization of Zionism will never again be tolerated by the literary community they claim to serve. Our grassroots pressure campaign, which included a successful and widespread boycott of the organization, made that very clear.
PEN America must learn from the lessons of the past three years and recommit itself to Palestinian writers. There can be no freedom to write without a free Palestine.

few other recent events at PEN America that further illustrate the organization's commitment to Zionism:
• Earlier this year, PEN America published a statement of support for Israeli comedian and alleged war criminal, Guy Hochman, following the cancellation of two of his events in New York and Los Angeles in January due to sustained pressure by organizers. In a 40-page dossier, the Hind Rijab Foundation detailed Hochman's public incitement to genocide of Palestinians, including his call for "mass killing and extermination" of Palestinians, use of nuclear weapons against Gaza, celebration of civilian deaths, and call for the starvation, displacement and collective punishment of Palestinians. PEN America has since retracted its statement.
• PEN America does not extend this level of support to Palestinian authors. On December 3, the LAPL cancelled a talk with Palestinian-American author Jenan Matari and anti-Zionist Jewish writer Nora Lester Murad, claiming that it was inconsistent with its mission and policies. After the abrupt

cancellation, Matari and Murad sought the support of PEN America, to no avail. In an email to PEN America following their support of Hochman, Matari and Murad state: "In essence, PEN has publicly stated that Hochman's right to dehumanize Palestinians should be defended, while its silence about the LAPL's censorship communicates that our right to humanize Palestinians is not worthy of protection."
• This past May, PEN America appointed writer, Hebrew translator, and self-proclaimed
Zionist Yardenne Greenspan to the jury of its PEN/Heim Translation Fund Grants. Most recently, Greenspan has been promoting the book of her husband Shai Davidai-the disgraced Columbia professor who played a central role in the campaign leading to the deportation proceedings against student activist Mahmoud Khalil.
Greenspan believes Zionism is "neither an agenda of superiority nor a doctrine of expansionism" and has previously tweeted that "globalize the intifada" constitutes a direct threat to Jewish life. While PEN has not made the list of jurors public, WAWOG received exclusive information from a jury member who withdrew after learning of Greenspan's involvement.

I’m told same manpower will be provided, NO disruption to service, but volunteers will be from central NYPL staff (people from NYPL-wide departments, not branch staffers). Those details weren’t included in the internal notice saying no more branch volunteers:

Dear Jail & Prison Services Branch Volunteers,
As you know, NYPL has embarked on its 5-year strategy, which involves an increased focus on reading engagement by staff at all of our branches. This includes major systemwide goals of dramatically increasing the number of borrowers and building a new legacy of readership in New York City. Much of the branch staff's work will be heavily focused on engaging with patrons onsite and serving them with dynamic programming and services. Given these priorities, the Jail & Prison Services Department (JPS) will no longer be scheduling volunteers from branch libraries for library service on Rikers Island after June 30, 2026. As a result, any Rikers Island service visits you have scheduled for July and beyond will be cancelled.
I know this news may come as a disappointment, especially for those of you who have volunteered with the JPS team for years. Whether you have made one visit or dozens, you have helped connect our patrons with books, information, and a reminder that the Library is there for them.

NEW YORK - Today, Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani announced three major new initiatives to safeguard and expand access to gender-affirming care for youth and adults across New York City. The initiatives represent a proactive $15 million investment at a time of growing uncertainty and escalating attacks from the federal government.
To safeguard access to gender-affirming care, Mayor Mamdani's administration will:
• Establish a direct care access fund for providers of youth gender-affirming care to help ensure that New Yorkers can continue to access medically necessary care.
• Launch a call and text line connecting New Yorkers with care, services, information, resources and support related to gender-affirming care.
• Fund research to identify gaps in health care access and outcomes for transgender and gender non-conforming New Yorkers. As the federal government retreats from supporting this critical research, New York City will invest in better understanding and meeting the needs of LGBTQ+ community.
Earlier this month, the City's Law Department submitted an amicus brief supporting a legal challenge brought on behalf of transgender youth and young adults opposing federal grand jury subpoenas seeking the medical records of patients who have received gender-affirming care. On Wednesday, a federal judge granted the injunction, blocking the U.S. Department of Justice from using subpoenas to access sensitive medical records of transgender patients.
Mayor Mamdani has directed the Law Department to be ready to respond, including potentially litigate, threats to end gender-affirming care for youth and adults from the federal government.
