Durham NC. I Hack the Planet for a living, designing open source scientific instruments. The rest the time I'm an arts and crafts weirdo. Obsessions include Music, Scale modeling, Printmaking, Stained Glass, Handweaving, Sculpting, that sort of thing...
After this weekend, I'm lacking only a famously bad local driver with a well-known vanity plate to have completed the trifecta of famous area encounters. Or peeling a tall vehicle open on the railroad overpass, I suppose.
At least they connected Zombie David Smith's oxygen? No Comms/Electrical though, so he's still dead.
I just need @tantacrul.bsky.social to know that this piece of actual mass produced test equipment doesn't just have a real world Eye of Terpsichore button, but several antitalic buttons, as well. A feast for the eyes!
New tool chests is definitely one of those occasions when having a large format printer seems less absurd.
Feels good to be printmaking, and damn I love a blind emboss.
Ice storms breed ugly hacks. But hey, I've got almost 300 watt hours of Ryobi batteries, May as well give them good USB-C PD charging capabilities!
Today I am thankful that I've gotten to a life where the crazy ideas which delight me are being indulged, rather than repressed. For example, if I want to make a 12 foot long 1/30th scale Saturn V...well I have a large format printer. Nobody can stop me - and nobody would try.
at the time, I was doing a regular comic strip about the business, for my fellow-sufferers.
Be safe, you big magnificent miracle of a machine. 114 years is far too few to have you around. With any luck, I'll catch you on the flip side. #wanamakerorgan
3D printing London Pattern tool handles is the sort of thing that gets you sent to woodworker prison.
