Frenetic day (our latest building project kicked of). But a peaceful end with the glorious moonrise in Fish Hoek.
Meet Cheeky, one of the peacocks who roams our neighbourhood. He thinks he lives with us. If I don't close the front door, he comes inside. He routinely shits on my doormat (the size of the turd matches the size of the bird 😭). My cats aren't sure what to make of him, but my kid loves chasing him 😂
First mookata / mu kratha (Thai BBQ and hotpot combo) in the new house. Yum!
They are the sweetest, funniest little beings. Love their idiosyncratic natures.
Best treatment for a head cold? Take your kid to the beach for some fresh air and vitamin D. My head is still stuffy, but my heart is happy.
Went for a run because it's a quick way to exercise and I needed the fresh air... I can feel I'm coming down with my kid's cold. I HATE running. But if it's with a view like this, I can tolerate it a lot better.
Heinous weekend. New house's pantry is infested with mites (I didn't know pantry mites existed until this week). All our brand new food had to be chucked. And poor kid has gastro. I've been non-stop cleaning... shelves, vomity sheets, toddler's angry bum. So good to finally sit down and enjoy this.
First batch of Danish rye bread baked in the new house. The starter survived!
This may look like a photo of messy laundry hanging in a scraggly backyard, but it's a symbol of things accomplished this weekend. Doubled our drying space by putting up a new line, which meant chopping up some paving and an overgrown bush to sink the poles. Used the holes to plant my first veg 😊
First time both cats have voluntarily joined us in the lounge of our new house and settled in to chill for a bit. Major progress, given that Moz has basically been living under the bed for two weeks.
Both cats are now here and safe, but obviously traumatised by their separation and travel. Velvet has finally come out from under the bed to eat, drink and use the litterbox, and even settled on the bed by my feet, like a normal night. Moz will take a lot longer, but I'm beyond grateful he's okay.
Back when The Bad Place was still The Mostly Bearable Place, I surprised those who followed me by announcing the birth of my son after not saying a word about my pregnancy. It was good fun. I miss that. Moved to Cape Town yesterday and it would've been another nice secret to drop. Ah well.
Finally got to paint my Christmas biscuits with my husband, mid-Jan. These are my four, painted earlier this week. My toddler has already eaten three of them 😂
When it's your 19th wedding anniversary but you have a toddler and it's a public holiday and you have no help for the day and your husband is crippled after a knee op and can't really do much... Family home spa ftw.
Typos today courtesy of my new keyboard. I'm so used to typing on my banged-up, decade-old one with the keys that require different pressures that I can't quite manage with the fully functional new one yet 😂
