Spent the day replacing our bedroom light fixture with a ceiling fan and I AM SO TIRED AND SORE 😩
Added a grow light to the orchid shelf (on lowest brightness setting). Also switched Freya’s potting mix with LECA pebbles and a bit of moss. Despite not being a plant person, I’m satisfied with the result. Looking at it makes me feel accomplished.
Our kitchen window sill isn’t big enough for both of them, so Petra and Freya now have their own shelf above our TV. Threw it together with leftover wood I had from other projects.
The wife got regifted ANOTHER orchid. So now Petra has a companion. Meet, uhm…Freya.
Slide the vent into the bottom of the door and then re-install. Easy peasy. Took longer for me to get the tools ready than to do the actual deed.
After that, it was time to take it outside, get the jigsaw, and the AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA— …and done!
I used the guide that printed on the side of the air return ventilation kit to draw the lines on the door so I knew where to cut.
Once the pins were removed, the door came off easily. (And yes, the doorstopper is on top instead of the bottom. It was like that when we moved in. We decided to keep it that way because we have cats)
Alright, so first step was removing the pins from the door hinges. For some odd reason, two of our pins were put in upside down? Also, this was the hardest and loudest step. Lots of hammering.
My eldest child having a nap. …well, I think he’s napping. It’s hard to tell with snakes since they don’t have eyelids. He was back to doing laps around the cage about an hour later.
Commissioned @juliejubz.com to make an avatar of me and my scaley boys. She knocked it out of the park! Seriously, LOOK AT THIS! It's amazing!
I had this happen to me previously, when my "Scoop Litter Boxes" event disappeared and reported it. I checked my feedback history and sure enough, the "Scoop Litter Boxes" event was created on November 25th, 2023 and disappeared after November 23rd, 2025. So it has a 730 day limit, it seems.
When having cats causes you to find a bug in Google Calendar... (After reporting it, I also noticed that "Morning Churu" also ends after March 9th, 2026...I checked and, sure enough, it was created on March 10th, 2024)
Ah, yes…life with cats. And this was all from five minutes of deshedding Torta.
The other side. The hedgehogs were gifts from a family friend. The wooden terrapin has the words “Puerto Rico” carved in the shell. No, I’ve never been there.
Today I made a shelf for my monitor and mini PC out of some spare floor board and poplar wood I had lying around. Added benefit: I now have room to safely display some of the animal statuettes I’ve collected over the years.
“Unfortunately” Like I’m gonna switch hardware to get a worse experience.
Me: “Only one flower spike?” Petra, my orchid: “B*tch, I only NEED one!”
Bonus: my wife’s current obsession, Droxy. She’s an outdoor stray who was born around here and has adopted my wife. Less than a year old and nice to us but will pick fights with others, including her own sister. Originally named Hydrox (by yours truly), but the wife liked “Droxy” better.
Recent cat photos. Hellebore sleeping on our shoe rack, Torta napping in the cat tree, and Girlie being very unladylike.
Newest version of this - changed the grids to dots to save on printer ink, shrunk the header section, and added a fourth row. I also wanted to make sure the last strip didn't sit too far down the page because I hate having to draw that low on paper 😅
Today did not go as planned, so I coped by making a template for thumbnailing comic strips on 8.5" x 11" paper.
