Sometimes I wonder if I made a career mistake leaving Substack and its network, but then I see something like Ghost's absolutely amazing feature that flags if you've left a TK in a draft and I know I'm on the right newsletter platform for Notes on K-pop
In 2022, I began writing a newsletter that I hoped to open the door to thoughtful reporting and discussions about K-pop. Four years later, it finally has a logo and Instagram. www.instagram.com/p/DZk-Yswqac...
On Google, the one liner for WSJ is more direct than Reuters, which feels damning in so many ways
Just logged onto Twitter for the first time in a while and see my legacy lives beyond my account
Niche nerdy thing: idk if I’ve ever seen someone not put “this is their broadway debut” in a playbill before!
Woke up to the news that Heesung is leaving Enhypen to go solo due to creative differences.
Okay I didn’t make them but my aunt made lajmajun hamantaschen AND apricot and pistachio hamantaschen so I won
When you’re grocery shopping and voice note a greater line than any you’ve written in weeks
Elrond: it is over. The evil is gone Galadriel, and me in therapy: then why is it not gone from here?

Muck Rack thinks I have a new job as "Freelance", but I've been living here for 3000 years.

Looking at jewelry designed by my favorite K-pop star and glad we believe in genderless jewelry, at least.
@areum.bsky.social presenting her book @kpopfandom.bsky.social in NYC at the Korea Society. I’ve already read it, and hope many people do
Shoutout to @mariamelba.bsky.social who had insane luck and got in right away whereas I sat there watching 28000 tick down to “you’re in” over the period of an hour without even the little Ticketmaster walking man of doom to keep me company
Being on vacation in Europe and reading the news has been incredibly bizarre ngl but here have some gorgeous water and fish to distract from all the doomscrolling
Love that xikers is putting on a SHOW. despite a small venue they’re still going all in with the production and it makes things feel grand. In comparison, I’ve seen so many K-pop acts do arena tours and skip the creative elements that make a good show a truly great one.
(G)I-idle formally become i-dle. Been waiting for this SEO change since day 1, ngl. Especially bc they’ve used this name for so long anyway, using a silent G
Has anyone reviewed The King of Kings from a Jewish pov yet, bc this looks real bad just from a single screenshot & r/jewish viewers seem really upset, especially bc of the iconic cast members. Getting so many press releases from this on the Korean side of things.
Has anyone read a good business-y explainer about why Dunkin is the only American fast food chain that has successfully opened kosher branches with alternative menus, targeting major communities? Subway tried but it didn’t work well, and coffee bean was in LA for many years but isn’t now.
