FB ad. I'm impressed that any US retailer has so much Chartreuse they need to advertise it. But maybe it's just click bait, they actually don't have any, and they just hope you'll buy something else once you're there!
Vacation mixology! This Santa Fe Spirits mesquite smoked single malt is worthy of sipping on its own. But I needed hydration, so I made a Mamie Taylor.
Almost certainly the world's longest running D&D campaign. 48 years and counting.
Vacation mixology! Someone in our group requested I pick up some rye. I hadn't had a chance to try the Overholt bottled-in-bond yet, so that's what I went for. Forgot to buy an orange for garnish, so I'm using a clementine instead!
You know you're in New Mexico when... you find this display in a totally average grocery store.
Called for something to calm my stomach after a bumpy flight. Amaro, vermouth, a little bourbon, lime, ginger beer. Fantastic!
Susan's Fine Wines and Spirits in Santa Fe is an absolute delight. Amazing wine and spirits selection. We're here to shop for wine for our week at a rental house, but I ducked into the bar at the back for a drink.
Found a borderline lemon in the fridge, and I'm heading out of town again. So clearly I had NO CHOICE but to join the fun and try out Dave's spec (but not with the special honey). Delish! I love the Curacao addition here.
You should come to Toronto.. The semi-detached frankenhomes here are absolute madness.
I am in the middle of a very nerdy project of documenting the definitional history of every Hugo category. The research has been surprisingly delightful, like stumbling across this ad from 1973 which I think is advertising a still-existing library branch in my Toronto neighborhood.
Tiny open kitchen. End of the bar was being used for prep early in our meal.
So we have stumbled into a tasting menu. We happen to be staying across the street from the restaurant of a chef that we met at a special event at Michelin 2* Etz in Nuremberg in February. They do coffee and pastries in the morning and casual fine dining at night. And omakase, cause why not?
We are now on round three, but I've only taken pictures of the drinks that looked different! All still great. Any 50 Best judges following me? This bar really needs to be on your radar. Exceptional.
@chrisquartly.bsky.social is the recommendation winner of the trip. We had a lovely time at last night's bar, but every drink we've had here tonight in one round is better than any drink we had last night. Thanks Chris!
