Denshattack! is an absolute banger. This feels like the perfect Dreamcast-game that never was. There´s bits of Jet Set Radio, Ollie Ollie and more. But it never feels derivative in the slightest, this game confidently does its own thing. The perfect antidote-game in these days of gloom and doom.
I had a feeling the game would be awesome since the day I played it at TGS last year, but the finished game even exceeded my high expecations. You guys made an absolute banger and I hope you´re all really proud of what you´ve achieved!!
This is all well and good, but could you also address the ottifant in the room..?
I finally got @nadiaoxford.bsky.social 's book and read the introduction and the first chapter. Very good stuff so far and I would petition for an audio-book read by the author herself.
Whelp! As Sony @playstation.com made abundantly clear they don´t appreciate me as a customer anymore, I´ve invested in new hardware. The PS5 is now purely a work-device, I won´t spend a single cent in Sony's ecosystem anymore. Let's see how this steamdeck-thingy works out then!
Oh boy! That asshole Graham is dead, that other asshole McConnell most likely as well... now THIS is time for the universe to pull the ultimate hattrick!
A real classic for #randomgamesaturday. Street Fighter II Turbo was expensive, but very cool and is considered the best Street Fighter on SNES. It´s also turning 33 today!
Happy 39th birthday to the king of basic game trivia, Yume Kojo: Doki Doki Panic. "did you know 'Super Mario Bros. 2' is aaaaakshually..." It's a lovely little platformer with an absolute banger-soundtrack.
On days like this I love my job. A wonderful presentation on Shenmue complete with personal comments and some character-evaluation. Gen Z is awesome.
Today´s session of my elective is about the games of 1999. And again, I will show and hand around physical media. Not only playíng, but actually touching and holding these objects, all older than the students themselves, really bridges the time. This is what Sony wants to take away. Shame on them.
Well, courtesy to www.redbubble.com/de/people/Cl..., here´s my daily FUCK YOU to @playstation.com. Don´t you think you can sit this one out. You really shit the bed this time.
After visiting a Retrobörse yesterday, @dark1x.bsky.social and I played throught Gargoyle´s Quest on Game Boy (via SGB2 on a CRT) from beginning to the end. The difficulty is a bit frontloaded, but it´s still an amazingly fun game, especially considering it's Capcom's first release on Game Boy!
Even when the big Microsoft-slaughter starts tomorrow: don't forget how badly @playstation.com shit the bed. This is what the bean-counters want to take from us. So don't let the fuckers get away with their dastardly schemes.
A bit late, but never mind: my Game for #randomgamesaturday - it's Street Fighter EX 3, a fun, early PS2 Game and a soon a rarity: a PlayStation game on an actual disc. :/
I´ve been with @playstation.com since day 1. I love their consoles and handelds, I actually got my first PlayStation one day before release-day. I loved them, I loved the games and I loved buying physical games. But even with that background - if Sony kills physical media, I´m out. I don´t want that
Why, it Tengai Makyõ on Saturn, of course. Look at the incredibly accurate map! Theres also a pig-woman making folks go fat. And more!
Sources say the Neo Geo retail system came to Japan on this day 35 years ago. Is that correct? Well, on the other hand, you don´t really need a particular reason to celebrate this wonderful system, do you now?
I have my copy of Twinbee Portable on PSP for #randomgamesaturday - the fine folks at @mtwo-game.bsky.social made another banger.
So we checked out more Grandia and the course loved it. Seems like this is MUCH more their jam than Square's pre-rendered classic. The presentation is much closer to today's Indies and I LOVE THIS. So happy this gem still resonates after all those years.
This is fascinating. This week at University, we de discussed 1997 and I talked at length about Final Fantasy VII and what a big deal it was. Then in the end, I showed Grandia on Saturn as a contrast and... Pretty much the whole course was REALLY into IT and wanted to know and see more.
I have an even better idea, Hermen: Why don´t the "affected employees", their colleagues and everyone else just grab some torches and pitchforks and chase your sorry ass out of this fucking industry for good? You and your friends in their fancy suits fucked up, not those doing the actual work.
Please let me add an enthusiastic "Fuck You, Hulst" to the current discourse.
This all-time Carpenter-banger is turning 44 today and I think few movies aged as beautifully as this one. Masterful in every way.
Also: this game indirectly gave the world the term "vagina bones" - and let us never, ever stop mocking the chuds for that, okay?
Tokyo Mirage Sessions # FE for Wii U was released 10 years ago outside Japan. This crossover between elements of Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei was long awaited and probably not at all what most expected - or wanted. Still, I think it´s a pretty nifty, unique RPG. Glad it´s on Switch now!
The boss at the end of the flying city was a bit of a challenge thanks to maelstrom, but I still bit it on my first try and got my final job - Ranger. Which is another nice one. Let´s see how synergies work out here. But I´d assume this run shouldn´t be too tough. More updates soon. Probably.
Oh yeah, and before fighting Byblos, I got my third job. Knight. Which... yeah. Pretty much the same as my Dragoon. Useful, simple. It´s going to be a pretty defensive run. But I didn´t encounter any major obstacles.
