And there are other adjustable features too! The lamp has two brightness settings, and is attached to the bar behind with a magnet, so it can be easily repositioned. There is also a coat hook, which slots onto the top of the enclosure wall. We hope you enjoy trying out this lovely new facility! 😊

As well as a comfy padded seat, a desk, shelf, and lamp, the Study Nook also has handy charging sockets that take USB-A, USB-C, and one standard UK 3-pin plug (underneath the seat).

Happy Bastille Day! Here’s a snippet from the 1897 Michele Lévy Frères edition of Alexandre Dumas’s novel, "Ange Pitou" (published later in English with the alternative title “Taking the Bastille”). This Taylor Special Collections Item can be ordered up to our Library by requesting it on SOLO!

Our first proof copy of 'Ingeborg Bachmann: Fragmented' has arrived, and it's looking great! 🎉 We'll be adding this book to our collections in time for the book's official launch in Michaelmas Term- so keep an eye out for it on SOLO! We'll also post more about the launch closer to the time!

👋University of Oxford Open Days 🔊 On Wednesday and Thursday (1st and 2nd July), we will be taking tour groups of prospective students around the library as part of the University open days. We apologies in advance for any disruption or inconvenience this may cause.

☀️ Summer Vacation Loans ☀️ All Taylorian Teaching Collection items (and some Bodleian Offsite Storage items) that are borrowed or renewed after the 15th June, will now be due on the 13th October. All books that are not eligible for a Vacation Loan should be returned by their due dates.

1. Remove the book from the source of the moisture. Whether it's a leaky water bottle or roof, get the book somewhere dry! 2. Dry the book cover using a cloth or paper towel. 3. Fan the pages as shown, and let it dry. This stops pages from sticking together, and allows them to dry quicker.

Join us on Teams 💻 for some amazing online talks based on 'Indigenist fictions: Indigenismo and print culture in the Americas' 16th June at 5pm: 'Framing Indigeneity: Indigenismo across art and print culture' 17th June at 5pm: 'Indigenismo in the archive: Catalogues, collections and digital tools'

'Ingigenist fictions: Indigenismo and print culture in the Americas. Online series. Framing Indigeneity: Indigenismo across art and print culture.

This online panel expands the themes of Indigenist Fictions. Indigenismo and Print Culture in the Americas by exploring how artists, writers and editors shaped modern visions of indigenity across the Americas during the first half of the twentieth century. Bringing together perspectives on visual art and print culture, the discussion will consider the ways Indigenous cultures became central to avant-garde imaginaries and nationalist projects alike.

The speakers will examine figures such a Frida Kahlo and Marina Núñez del Prado, alongside the influential roles of magazines in circulating and recontextualising indigenist art and ideas across borders. The conversation will reflect on how these materials constructed, mediated, and transformed notions of "the Indigenous" within modern artistic and intellectual networks.

Following the presentation, the speakers will join in conversation and audience discussion moderated by the exhibition curator.

'Indeginist fictions: Indigenismo and print culture in the Americas. Online series. Indigenismo in the archive: Catalogues, collections and digital tools.

This online talk explores the archival afterlife of indigenist print culture and the evolving ways in which rare magazines, books, and printed material from the Americas are preserved, catalogued, digitised, and studied today. Taking as a point of departure collections such as "Amauta" and "Boletín Titikaka" held at the Ibero-Amerikanisches Instiut, the discussion reflects on the importance of archives in shaping our understanding of transnational artistic and intellectual networks.

Bringing together perspectives from archival practice and digital research, the session will consider how new technologies are transforming access to historical materials and opening new possibilities for the study of print culture, visuality, and cultural exchange in the Americas. More broadly, the talk invites audiences to think about the relationship between preservation, interpretation, and the production of knowledge in both physical and digital archives and how to apply this knowledge to research.
