Our Canadian mosaic is what makes us much stronger than the U.S. could ever hope to be. Real strength lies in diversity, not in uniformity and conformity. That holds true in societal organisms just as much as it does in genetics.
Half of Britons were still saying 'soccer' until the late 60s. I think the birth of the original NASL and possibly the Vietnam War led to them going all in on 'football'. (Or 'fitba' as they say in Scotland)
