I made a youtube video about a presentation that I gave to @handshakemtg.com team-mates prior to the Pro Tour! Please check it out and please like and share, much appreciated! 🤝🤝🤝 @fireshoes.bsky.social youtu.be/LtZIm0V1Sz4?...
Have been really enjoying and tuning this deck in modern right now (69% wr over 6 events so far). Made top8 of the challenge today. Thinking about writting a deck guide, because I assume a lot of people dismiss it based on the look of it. Let me know if interested. Exportable⬇
It has now been officially confirmed by WOTC in the Pro Tour discord. When I thought I qualified for Arena Limited Championship I think it was fair to assume it was a draft event at least in some way resembling Arena Championship. In reality I just qualified for a LCQ on Arena.
Did 1 more after this because too fun, went 7-1 (UGbr) into 5-2 (BGwu) for another $1000. Good weekend and needed to never give up for a decent payday after all!
My 5th draft 2 token, or my 40th bullet overall finally got into the profit for the weekend. Finals was totally absurd game where I was convinced I'm going to loose for sure but somehow opponents entire deck had only 2 total removal spells and I nautrally decked them 😱😱💰💰
What would you P1P1 from this pack? If you want to know my thoughts of this as well as of another pack check out my FREE! post on Metafy⬇️ metafy.gg/posts/Hjx5Lm...
I have been working tirelessly the past week to make this happen and it is now done. I put all my pro tour limited expertise into a SOS guide! If you want to succeed at LTQs, Arena Qualifier or just enjoy drafting at FNM or want to get insight into @handshakemtg.com limited ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Inspired by Matt Nass's thread on twitter here is one of the wildest brews I have ever built. I will note that I do not recommend joining a challenge with it but could be fun to take for a spin on Bronze Ladder! XD Exportable⬇️ moxfield.com/decks/u5Jo94... @handshakemtg.com
The Pro Tour is going to be so fun, I have been drafting a lot! moxfield.com/decks/uDW4yD... @handshakemtg.com
Hyped to fly to Las Vegas to test with @handshakemtg.com for my last PT! Already signed up for Saturday Limited Champs Qualifier if I don't day2, that sounds much more fun than a PTQ for Amsterdam.
At first I thought that the set will get old fast, but the more I played it the more I find about the depth and long term playability just being brewed into ECL! Sweet Dream Harvest ECL! I will miss you.
One great example is the teams that seem to rely heavily on 17lands had bad winrate at the Pro Tour! Pod draft dynamics are magnified to an extent I have never seen before!
Why I think this draft format is so good? High tension! The reason is the drafts are very difficult to navigate and there seems to be no consensus way. The balance between forcing your good cards early vs staying open vs drafting off-beat archetypes is very hard to get right!
I know it is difficult to put a card that is not particularly main deckable in the card file in this bo1 draft era, but I do believe that the format would have felt well balanced and even better if there was 1 unc in the card file that would be purposed to balance out the elves.
but I think they have gotten better at printing really strong common removal in the sets that have a very high volume of bomb rares and that seems to be balancing out the formats very nicely lately.
I really love how lately I have felt that sealed deck is great again, there was a time right after the release of play boosters where it felt something very seriously changed and increased the variance in sealed to a level that I was not happy with.
I really loved ECL limited. I think sealed was better than draft, but that sounds fairly normal for a tribal set with 5 ‘main’ archetypes by design. From my experience this is the best tribal set ever designed. I will give them a 8/10 grade for draft and 10/10 for sealed deck.
Played modern for first time in months. Broodscale felt really well positioned right now, but sadly 7-2 not good enough to top8 today. Luckily there is a bonus Modern Showcase Challenge next Sunday, so I will run it back! moxfield.com/decks/6KzYm8...
Had a fun stream today, I top8d the Pioneer challenge. Deckbuilding secret, take @kanistermtg.bsky.social list and change 1 card! Exportable🔽: moxfield.com/decks/rw_hWo... @handshakemtg.com @fireshoes.bsky.social
The last trophy was also the final draft of the night and I did not expect this deck to be that goodbut it did actually have very strong rares and a very simple game plan of click mulligan unless you are casting a 4 drop on turn3. Merry Christmas everyone! 🎅
The 4th deck we drafted after the 3rd coffee when it was already past midnight, I got p1p1 Abandoned Air Temple into p1p2 Wartime Protestors. The theory does hold, Wandering Musicians get stronger when the whole band gets together! This deck was silly, we did not drop a game.
The next trophy is a better example of the deck I was talking about, although it still did not have a full lessons theme. Even got to activate Earthen Ally a few times (it's fun to make late pick rares work!)
Next up there is a URbg soup deck. The lessons archetype is my favorite in the format, but here I did not quite get enough payoffs. Yet the deck was still very good because of the bomb rares that simply win the game!
All 7 win decks from my 17h marathon stream yesterday. Mostly playing 16 lands because @sierkovitz.bsky.social says that it 16lands is higher winrate than 17lands or because I like drafting decks with low curve and land searchers in this format. 1st BG sacrifice aggro is a good archetype:
4-2 in draft. 2-1 both times. Mono white green yesterday and black green splashing red today.
Ended day 1 at 5-2. 2-1 draft 3-1 standard. Excited to draft again tomorrow.
Check out this Standard Mono Black Aggro deck I built with some new cards from Avatar! moxfield.com/decks/3JW8JX...
Modern Challenges keep being very fun! Won a game with keeping a 0 lander. Had a game with infinite life combo. Beat the mighty Kanister moxfield.com/decks/7oqZU-... @handshakemtg.com @fireshoes.bsky.social
The Regional Championships are coming up and I have had an absolute blast playing Broodscale on MTGO so far. I decided to put that energy into a deck guide. I recoreded 2 videos as well as wrote a little more so you can also get good at this deck and know how to play it! 👇 mfy.gg/guides/view/...
