In Japan, the Nikkor is retailing for 341,650 yen (~$2,100) new. The Tamron is actually retailing for slightly more, and that's with a pre-release sale. MSRP of the Tamron is ~400,000 yen (~$2,450). So, uh, dunno what's going on there
Reminded me of DHH basically saying that words aren't violence, unless the word is "nazi". Makes one think…
The real Toei Oedo Line is completely underground, for one, with no passing tracks. It uses a magenta color scheme, and trains have front safety doors. The trains are also much more compact. A quick trip and an attribution to a wiki user is a lot better for this sort of stuff!
Ooo. Looking forward to reading through this. But, uh, the students look like they got got by some AI slop. That picture is *not* the Oedo Line, or any line I can think of. I'm not even ardently opposed to AI art, but passing stuff formally as the real thing when it's obviously not is a bad look.
Apparently there's a new alignment for the tunnel that won't require the local little league fields to be torn up. Didn't know about this update, but I think it sounds like a good one.
Impressed by the turnout at this neighborhood @queenslink.org meeting. Despite the city currendly bound to throw its weight behind the trails-only QueensWay and the MTA being indifferent, I'm still hopeful that the rails+trails #QueensLink can make it!
I can't find this tweet, unless he deleted it. He did claim that caring about rap beefs is gay though, so 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈 nitter.net/Cobratate/st...
Learning that energy grid spot prices are so easy to learn about has made me look at them quite often. Very interesting findings from them IMO. Right now, the New England grid will *pay you* to consume energy from it at spot prices because of excess supply 😵💫
Oh, no, it updated right away! 😄 (Still baffles me that for a game that's set 40,000 years in the future, it wasn't until literally last year when they allowed people to do this! )
@leannamccarthy-eve.bsky.social did something quite interesting with EVE Online's roster of hundreds of ships: Make a sudoku game out of them! A very fun test of game knowledge. www.evedoku.com #eveonline #tweetfleet
And in the next panel, comparing the Babaroga to the greatest people in history, in, uh, a certain way...
It's been a week since Anger Games 7 finished, and it was a blast! There were many highlights, but one that sticks to mind were back to back panels where @aliaras-em.bsky.social asked CCP Jotunn about the losing Babaroga. And Jotunn showcased his ability to... explain through analogy: #tweetfleet
FWIW, the Daily Wire EIC denies that the layoffs are "[anywhere] near 50% of the company"
Having a train with a cat livery definitely synergizes with that vibe, come to think of it
The graph the Twitter folks made in 2017 when they bumped up the limit to 280 characters is quite illustrative:
It was only in Ann Arbor ten minutes ago, but has been spread out closer to Detroit now as well. Stay safe…
I meant to comment though on the contemporary cross-promotion between Taiwan and a private railway in Japan, where the latter took their "Blue Sky Train" and made it look like a Taiwan Railway train, which made it into the exhibit. A bit of a tonal difference from the historical stuff, that 😆
