🍦 You didn’t even need this amount of dexterity and skill to complete the Krypton Factor!!! 🏃♂️
📸 Best I could get from my back garden in Denton, Manchester from my iPhone camera. The reflection is the true extent of the solar eclipse 🌒 Lyle’s cousin Leo made him a viewer in true Blue Peter style from a cereal box.
☀️ I’m so lucky that Al is a great cook… her food is made for social media as well as the stomach!📱 🍽️ Today’s garden delight was duck on a bed of steamed stem broccoli & spring onions, with a refreshing salad; washed down with a 0% Aperol Spritz. 🍹 And every bite begrudgingly watched by Violet. 🐕
🪫Energy levels quite low today, so I’ve been enjoying the sunshine and mainly been doing the best job I have - being a Grandad to Lyle. ❤️
🏴 A sad day for the family as we say goodbye to my cousin’s son Rob. He was only 33 and so musically gifted and taken far too young🎸 Sending lots of love to my Uncle Alan, my cousin and Rob’s mum, Debbie, stepdad Karl and Rob’s sister Emily xxx 💔 Rest in peace Rob.🕊️ 🏴 We are now back in England
📸 A photo of the bell tower and the 500 year old Great Oak, with just one bough still alive and propped up. 💤 Home now and whacked out and in bed 🛌
🎥 A fantastic afternoon at The Light Cinema in Stockport to see Toy Story 5. Can’t beat going to the pictures and Redrock is my favourite. 🍿🥤 All snacked up with popcorn and drinks and a great Disney film to boot. And Lyle got to meet SpiderMan on the way out too! 🕷️
🗳️ What a marathon 13 hrs doomscrolling for the #GMElects results. A huge congrats to @bevcraig.bsky.social on her election as Mayor of Greater Manchester. She will be brilliant 👏🏻 After 2nd preferences were added the run-off between Labour & Reform was 🌹 66% vs ➡️ 33% Vote #BevForUs and we did!
🗳️ Just done my bit for democracy and voted for @bevcraig.bsky.social to be Greater Manchester Mayor in what is the country’s biggest by-election (more than 2m eligible voters) She’s by far the most experienced & impressive candidate on the ballot paper! Vote #BevForUs. Polls open to 10pm
🥷 In slow-motion: the ninja attack on my (zero alcohol) Aperol Spritz by Violet 🐕
❤️ Thinking about my Gran, who’s birthday is 27 July. She died in 1993, just two weeks shy of her 80th birthday. 🪄 She’d have been 113 today… and with AI I can bring to life one of the first photos of us together. (By the way, I’ve a suspicion she knitted the babygrow I’m in. It *was* 1974) 🧶
There’s a lot of snobbery, and a fair bit of jealousy about No 10 North and Manchester being the location. I hope it’s a permanent fixture. And as a Mancunian I see it as a good thing. Some Gov depts have footprints in parts of the UK - DHSC has a significant base in Leeds. This should be the norm!
🇦🇷 2-1 🏴 FT Absolutely gutted, Argentina was a formidable team, Gordon’s goal gave us hope. But I still love the sass of HM Governor of the Falkland Islands 🇫🇰 🇬🇧 🏴
❤️ Whichever resident stuck this sticker to the lamppost outside my house - THANK YOU. It means a lot. 💕
🏴2-1 🇳🇴 #BrilliantBellingham 👏🏻 Here’s to the semi-finals ⚽️
☀️ Nice relaxing Friday vibes from the sun-trapped Gwynne garden. 🍻 Have a great weekend however you’re spending it!
☀️Scorchio!!! Welcome to the Costa del Denton 🚿Watered the bone dry flower beds and tubs & am now enjoying lovely cold (non alcoholic*) drink in the shade * Am on Diazepam and Venlafaxine so no alcohol allowed. 18 months & I don’t miss the hangover, and some of the zero alcohol lagers are spot on!🍺
🥳 Success! Last night (with some helpful advice from a friends on the Denial #VIC20 Forum) I got the two amazing ports of ZX Spectrum games “Atic Atac” and “Sabre Wulf” working. 🕹️ There’s been some VIC ports of great classics lately, and shows what might have been if the C64 had been delayed a bit
😎 Wow, it’s hot today. This lunch Allison has made is massively Instagrammable: crab on homemade granary bread with Caesar Salad. Someone else was very interested in it. 🐕
🎂 𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗬 𝗕𝗜𝗥𝗧𝗛𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗡 🎈 Happy 52nd birthday to my amazing wife, Allison Gwynne. Today we snook out for a Vietnamese lunch and then when Lyle got back from school had the obligatory Colin the Caterpillar cake 🐛
🚲 The new cycle lane at the side of my house is great for teaching Lyle how to ride safely. It’s also lovely to hear the kids at St Anne’s school using it as part of their Bikeability course.
🥣 An enjoyable breakfast in the garden. It’s much cooler today than it has been in recent days, just 24 degrees. The best bit of my breakfast? The first of our homegrown raspberries to be picked and eaten!! Happy Saturday, and to those attending events today, Happy Armed Forces Day 🇬🇧
✝️ A delight to attend the licensing of a new priest covering ‘the plurality’ of St Lawrence Church, Christ Church & St George, Denton. The service was at St Lawrence’s, a timber-framed church dating to 1531. Congrats to Rev. Helen Scanlan I nearly didn’t go. My anxiety levels are sky high today.
🗳️ What a politically tumultuous day. I’m 52, there have been 12 Prime Ministers in my lifetime & 7 of those will have been just in the last decade. I’m wishing my friend Andy Burnham well if he becomes number 13 as is looking likely! Here’s my thoughts on LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/posts/theand...
