🎭 We champion the future of live performance in the UK, by protecting and supporting excellent theatre buildings which meet the needs of their communities.
Today's Fifty@50 theatre also celebrates its 50th birthday this year 🎉 Find out what we did to support Theatr Clwyd through a major capital redevelopment project www.theatrestrust.org.uk/how-we-help/... 📸 Philip Vile
We believe that everyone should have access to theatre and experience transformative live performance But theatres today are facing some of the toughest challenges since Theatres Trust was created and our work continues Find out more about how to support us www.theatrestrust.org.uk/support-us
Theatres Trust has worked tirelessly to protect and support theatres of all sizes and scales across the country It is now incredibly rare for a theatre to be demolished without an equivalent new venue built in its place Each year we support more than 300 theatres with specialist unbiased advice
A fundraising campaign raised the money needed for Theatres Trust to start our work. Generous donations included contributions from some famous names including Sir Richard Attenborough, June Whitfield, JB Priestley, Sheila Hancock and John Thaw
Our formation followed the loss of 800+ theatres between 1914 and 1976 and the national outcry over the demolition of the Frank Matcham-designed Granville Theatre of Varieties in London
Today is our 50th birthday 🎂 On this day in 1976, the Theatres Trust Act was given Royal Assent and our organisation was created with the purpose “To promote the better protection of theatres for the benefit of the nation”
Today’s Fifty@50 theatre is different from the others we’ve featured. The Lyceum earns its place on the list not so much because of how we’ve helped it, but because it's very important to Theatres Trust’s history. Read more www.theatrestrust.org.uk/how-we-help/... 📸 Ian Grundy
