Ahhh the Sinclair C5. A group of them being piloted along the beachfront between Bournemouth & Poole last winter. Presume an owners club.
“Roads are NOT play areas. At what point are adults going to accept that?”
Heron Watch. Today’s favoured perch. A transit van. Just taking in the sights. #birdwatching #riverside #heron
The #BirdOfTheDay theme today is #weather a favourite shot in any weather we can see…..rain, wind, snow etc. The alt is #riverbank any bird capture on the banks of a waterway. Just a Heron, casually perched on some Thames riverbank railings.
Crows - what a friendly bunch! Some beautiful pictures in this fascinating thread. And inspired me to dig out the pencils and get a bit sketchy!
A society built around cars. And the cars chosen by a significant proportion of that car-centric society choose vehicles the size of a Sherman tank! I just don’t get it. If you want to drive & appear outdoorsy, what’s would be so objectionable about driving a cool little (Kei) 4x4 style minivan?
Allister Heath headline generator with the e-bike rage lol
Favourite memory of the year has to be riding the Tro Bro Leon challenge - a 132km Fondo around beautiful Brittany, France. Quiet roads winding inland through quiet villages and alongside beautiful beaches. Plus 20% of the route on farm tracks to keep you on your toes, all made for an awesome event.
Visual representation of the water loss perhaps - same reservoir 2014 to 2022. Embalse de los Bermejales, Andalusia. Insane.
Last week it was blazing Spanish sunsets and a final hurrah for Vitamin D topping up. This week dull and drizzly - battening down for British winter. Roll on spring 😃

Idly doodling tonight. #Antifa - June 1944, a beach in Normandy.
Shaded woodland. And twisting singletrack. Love this sort of riding. Combined with some wonderful chalky upland drove roads with great views. And so peaceful!
Was tempted to buy this riding shirt recently. Now I’m definitely gonna press buy, as apparently it’ll stop me being abused by impatient, entitled drivists. And it’s bloody awesome, so that’s a bonus too.
Just arrived!@pippayork.bsky.social and David Walsh and a shared love of the Tour. So looking forward to reading this. (25 pages in - I needed a 5 minute work break, honest boss! - couldn’t resist, and so far, so wonderful).
132km. 20 ribinoù sectors (gravelly, rocky farm tracks). Just over 4 and a quarter hours of tough riding around the Breton countryside. Hard but rewarding! #trobroleon challenge.
Cycling in Almería is a wee bit different to the U.K. It’s a game of spot the car. Once in the mountains and onto the back roads it’s 1 or 2 per hour. Heaven.
Not at this year’s Paris Roubaix, so here’s a throwback to 2018, Mons en Pévèle sector - World Champ Peter Sagan on his gold Specialized.
Lovely little walk this evening. Refreshingly cold & crisp with a blush of orange in the sky.
This is what climate change with lack of rain/snow and resultant drought look like. Photos of a reservoir near Granada, Spain taken 8 years apart. Normally filled with snow melt and winter rains, ever warmer winters and lack of precipitation has left it but a puddle.
First event of 2025 booked. Tro Bro Leon sportive here I come!
Random picture alert. A heron just chilling on the bank of the river Thames as I stroll past.
Ride starting and finishing through Longleat estate. Murky, muddy and lumpy and pretty chilly at times - but 1st ride towards 2025 goals. #cycling
Damp. Misty. But loved it. Nice 40 miles around the New Forest on super quiet roads and gravel.
Marco Pantani portrait as he wins a stage while wearing Pink in the 1998 Giro d’Italia.
Looking forward to the Classics already! But in the mean time remembering some classic spring races of past seasons. Retro bike race Saturday. La Flèche Wallone 1994. Gewiss Ballan crushed it. Gorgeous De Rosa bikes, Campagnolo gears and Shamal wheels, classy blue kit. I wanted a De Rosa so bad!
An unexpected snow day today. Dusting in the local woods this morning before the afternoon melt!
