Currently researching pain experiences in children and young people Creative research method enthusiast I read and love music and films and I draw and paint and I talk just constantly Huge nerd Views my own, unless I turn out to be correct
Finished reading A Desolation Called Peace by @byzantienne.bsky.social and found it generally ace. Lots of stream of consciousness, lots of interesting points on culture and language, lots of enormous civilisations I desperately need to know more about. www.goodreads.com/review/show/... #booksky
It’s been incredibly smoky round here, just south of Manchester, which hasn’t been the best. I did however get some photos of the incredible smoky sunset yesterday. Taken on my Canon 600D, F7 or so.
This was an awesome weekend. I met Chewbacca at the National Space Centre. He was pretty chill.
Latest painting: brimstone butterfly. Acrylic on canvas. Had to re-do the wings several times because painting translucent things is apparently quite tricky. #art #acrylicpaintingoncanvas #butterfly #brimstonebutterfly #painting
Hey everyone, check out this weird spider thing I saw on my walk over lunch yesterday. Apparently it's a harvestman and a quick Wikipedia rabbit hole tells me they've looked roughly the same for 400 million years! #harvestman #spider #bugs
Look at this jazzy moth! It’s apparently a Six Spot Burnet. Just hanging around not doing much in a thicket.
A lot of the time my camera on my iPhone is amazing and I've had a lot of success with the night photography function but then SOMETIMES, I end up with this weird Playstation 2 looking visual nonsense. The sky looks sort of surreal.
STRAWBERRY THIEF Spotted this morning. Honestly glad it was just a squirrel stealing the strawberries. #squirrel #criminal #strawberries
Niiiiice, this turned up while I was away camping. Been so excited about this book since it was announced, his previous two were phenomenal. The Story of Birds by @stevebrusatte.bsky.social
Saw an amazing thing yesterday on my run. A magpie facing off a buzzard. Shortly after this, they both flew off, with the magpie repeatedly swooping and pecking the buzzard from above.
It’s been an incredible day so far at the @cmcdgroup.bsky.social Creative Methods Showcase. So inspiring being able to chat to people from so many backgrounds, perspectives and disciplines. This is what research needs to be about. #cmcd2026
Fantastic owl art @keeleuniversity.bsky.social by Tom Edwards.
Observe this heron I saw yesterday. It hissed a lot at me for some reason. #heron #bird #britishwildlife
The moon, Pleiades and Venus, all in a row, seen from NW England

The news is insane. Here are some of my spring bulbs flowering to lighten the mood.
Amazing light this morning, crazy pink clouds at sunrise. Here’s a pigeon enjoying the view.
Happy Monday! Was out at Dunham Massey on Saturday, very happy to see the first signs of spring.
