Cranes seemingly holding tight the #conjunction of Venus and Jupiter in the twilight of today's sunset at Zaragoza (Spain). #science #astronomy 🧪🔭

Venus (middle left) and Jupiter (near the bottom left) are seen as bright stars in today’s sunset, shining through thin, pastel-colored, cirrus clouds.

In the foreground, there are three cranes in different poses, at the construction site of the new public football (soccer) stadium of Zaragoza, the fifth largest city in Spain.

The photographer (Álvaro González) searched for a vantage point to take the picture such as the extremes of two cranes seem to almost touch each of the planets, respectively.

Waving back at #Artemis minutes after its astronauts watched the #Earthrise and saluted us. This is almost the opposite view of the Moon to the one they were seeing. From Barcelona, Spain 👋🏻 🔭🧪

The Moon seen just after the Artemis II spacecraft watched the earthrise and regained contact with us.

From my location in the Universe, the Moon was rising over the horizon, so its light traversed a long stretch of Earth’s atmosphere.

Because of that, Earth’s atmospheric light absoption gave the Moon image an orange hue. And atmospheric turbulence caused image distorsions, most evident along the Moon’s limb.

A cumulonimbus cloud illuminated by the last sun rays of today. With pileus (a cap cloud) on top. Seen as I drove through the Monegros Desert (Spain).

A menacing storm cloud, with the contrast and shadows enhanced by the side illumination. It has the typical broccoli-like texture of this kind of cloud (a cumulonimbus), but it also displays a lens-like, horizontal, cap cloud on top (technically called a pileus).
