The Ontario government reverses course and announces today it won't scrap rent control, after proposing the change on Thursday. Many tenants voiced anger at the government and tenant groups vowed they would put up a strong fight.
Doug Ford's conservative government is proposing the the biggest attack on Ontario renters and rental affordability in a generation. Not only would landlords be able to evict tenants without cause, but rent control in units built before 2018 would effectively be over. (See last row in the image.)
