I am the devil's gateway, the cursed ingress. writing, reading, horror, danmei, knitting, folklore she/her
going through old pictures on my phone and the amount of low-quality screenshots I have of Luo Yunxi and Chen Feiyu in BTS stuff from Immortality is...wild WE COULD HAVE HAD IT AAAAAAAAALL
I keep getting letters for one of those "you need to get this policy update on your car, but no we won't actually give you our business name heh heh" scams, so I have devised a new way of disposing of them I unleash Lady Xenomorph upon them
I finally took pictures of my Tour de Fleece spins! no idea about my actual yardage (the skeins with yellow ties aren't measured yet), but if I averaged 150 yards per skein, then I have about 3,000 yards here. I spun approximately 1.7 miles of yarn in 21 days! #handspinning #yarn #tourdefleece
my ability to spin very very fine singles has grown SO much in the last few weeks!! granted I'll need to spin slightly thicker ones for my Tour de Fleece project but look! LOOK AT HOW FINE
it's been a while since I showed off my latest spins, so here they are! 1. Polwarth, chain-plied, ~90 yds (I knitted this into the STURDIEST little hat) 2. Romney from an ewe named Lyra! three-ply, ~300 yds? maybe? 3. Rambouillet, chain-plied, dyed by my friend from spinning class, ~150 yds?
hmmm I'm in a bit of a reading slump so I think it's time to reread something I love, just to get that energy back up...which means...
"what do you do with all the socks you knit?" apparently I just put them in the sock box and forget they exist
behold! just under one pound of Romney three-ply, Annabelle for scale (yardage tbd)
MY SUPER FLYER IS HERE; MY SPINNING IS ABOUT TO GO TO LUDICROUS SPEED Yes this expression is warranted
I am on a fiber diet until Rhinebeck but look at all the lovely things I got at MA Sheep & Wool!! pictured: three fiber braids from Dirty Girl Yarns, two color packs from Play at Life, and 2-ish pounds of Finn roving (in the plastic bags) that will hopefully become my Rhinebeck sweater this year!
a lovely fiber-y* day yesterdayI got to hang out with @tuxkate.bsky.social and to see some spinning friends, and as I left the exhibition with my handspun skeins, a woman stopped me and said, "oh! I thought you were carrying a small, beautiful animal!" (*I bought a pound of Romney fiber, oops)
that said, my new phone has opened up a whole new era of Annabelle pictures
getting just a wee bit emotional over how much Annabelle has grown over the past year she was so skinny and lanky and now she is filling out into a True Sylph-Like Lady
HUGE NEWS, EVERYONE Lady Annabelle Blue is two years old today!!!
Mr. Robert Jackson Bennett has been reading Wolf Hall, I see (I don't know if he actually has but when I read that passage from City of Blades last night, all I could think was CROMWELL)
my cat, Lady Annabelle Blue, has decided that my parents' dog Arlo is her FAVORITE thing in the entire world, forever, and it gives me such joy
it's been a little while since I shared a picture of Annabelle so here she is! she is getting So Big and also sometimes she gets so poofy her floofy neck turns into an Elizabethan collar
"be chilled and calm always" is not something to say to a person who has been dropped from three separate chats so far this morning
oh yes AI is an incredible invention, truly something that will stand the test of time
why am I not home with the love of my life, Lady Annabelle Blue
my latest finished spins! top row: the rest of the Polwarth/silk, chain-plied, probably about 100 yards? bottom row: Gnomespun wool roving (I forget the breed), also chain-plied, probably 150 yards? #handspinning #yarn
bobbin bobbin who's got the bobbin I doooooooo #handspinning
the newest spin -- 4oz of Polwarth/silk from Three Waters Farm, in the colorway "Quiet Contrast"; I chain-plied this to try to keep the colors together, but I love the barber-pole effect! about 92yds of a DK-ish weight yarn so glad I have another 4oz of this! #handspinning #yarn
