30 years old English/Español I draw post apocalyptic dragon raptors and I draw the Long Hike Comic in my freetime! No minors, stay away please.
Also for those curious, this is the fun part of hive scum, this is on Auric Maelstrom
Based on the convo with @runawaydanish.bsky.social. I Wanted to make a autoloader for a drek that a drek would hypothetically make. This is based a bit on the Browning SA 22, complete with a tube magazine in the buttstock. Sure they could get a laugh with da boyz by trying to make it full auto.
I would say holding it to the side or under the belly works well, I even showed some of it off in one of the Side stories, "The House of Salt and Oil" But here are some other pictures. I wouldn't say its as easy as humans, but I've loaded in a more horizontal way before, works fine
Also muzzleloaders are what I grew up with and what I love the most, here are two of my current ones, I also have a conversion of a modern shotgun to a muzzleloader but it ain't pretty. I am most familiar with muzzleloaded guns
I have drawn things like that before. Handguns also feature amongst awakening era colonial drekir quite often. Though that said for most of the history of õndem, the guns a drek or orm makes are usually less for warfare and more for subsistence hunting, with occasional use in fighting.
Right, I just think that they're a bit unergonomic for what a drek may want. Drekir struggle with shooting frontword due to their neck and arm positions, so shooting broadside makes sense to me. But I tend to imagine them wanting the gas and flash being at least a bit away from em. still cool though
The thought is since their anatomy leans towards shooting broadside, they need some distance between the trigger and the rest of the gun to croon their head down to actually aim properly. I'm pretty sure a bullpup would be impossible for them to aim. some other gun doodles for reference
A doodle drawn from playing Helldivers 2 with a friend. It's a drek, with a gun, enjoy
Teaser panel for the Friday upload, is it weird to say I am happy of Rara's boot there? I just think it turned out good and this is normally an annoying angle to draw boots from
A Caravan Guard for hire on the Martian plana of Olim sits on a stool in a caravanserai with their gun, The finest billboard money can buy for travelers with working eyes.
Drekir offspring were built to be pretty self sufficient throughout their first 5-8 years of life, such that they don't usually need too much help in the day to day, just the occasional bit of help as needed and a bit of shelter. Helps seeing as drekir don't exactly have strong parental instincts
A picking point I've had with myself on how I draw drek wool is that it looks too much like a human wig on a dragon raptor and not like you know, theropody enough. So here is an attempt on moving the wool growth up on the face to try and make something less human without going too far.
Not the only new life starting here back with The Long Hiker's Den! Also sorry wasn't sure how to cut this one down for Bluesky, it's a bit of a weird page
Well that did exist, sadly I can only find the drawing I wanted to share with watermarks all over it from Alamy. I think drekir could do something like this, their legs are good for it! But it's a bit of a niche sort of hunting weapon. Maybe for the super epic lord of the ring drek sieges.
So! Just went about experimenting with a drek bow IRL, or at least a shortbow that fits the dimensions of a drek bow. Here is the example, it is 37 inches long, and has a 35# draw @ 13 inches of draw length. Basically the perfect drek bow for the qualities I would imagine a drek could handle. and..
A Drek of the Birchwood forests of the Yakalj region of Logáu. Armed with a bow and arrows specialized for hunting frogs, shallow water eels and stingrays, as well as small skinks and salamanders in the flat, rainy, pale wetlands they call home.
You know little ramble Prepping proportion bases for TLH this coming week and I always feel as though I draw the boot of drekir too big, but when I draw it smaller it looks off I think its just one of the things where a happy medium of butt located hip bone size is never goin to find a happy medium
Some more doodles on Yaetil covering how simple it really is to convert metal ore mana and rumí into a workable metal! It's not a perfect metal and is actually quite soft, but it is a sufficient metal for day to day life that can be created, worked, and handled with limited people and infrastructure
While the rest of the den is out herding snakes, a couple of drekir stay at the camp to do some metalworking to make metal tools and projectile points from a sheet of Yaetil they made whilst at a broader clanwide meeting. It ain't stylish blacksmithing, but it works well for making tools.
It's the time of year in which I try to figure out how to get a small theropod to shoot small shortbows. This year's edition is with standing straighter
"A great mate of mine once said, 'Take it day by day.' And he's not wrong! Just take it day by day. You'll get used to it and trust me, it gets better in time. You'll see soon enough Oli"
In my branching out from the American civs, picked up the vikings for the great foot archers, stayed for the beserkers
I love it when my lovely village by the Redwood Marshes has visitors. I may need a larger shelter for this one though
