Excellent show by Garbage in the Iveagh Gardens tonight. Though based on what they said this evening, it might be their last.
I really think manufacturing culture war issues is effective for getting attention, but at the end of the day, people just want good films, whether theyre allegedly woke or not.
A mixed week, overall good. Happy to report that Dead Again is still super fun.
Every few years someone makes an excellent, 80s-esque family film that gets great reviews and that absolutely nobody goes to see.

So i watched Bloodsport for the first time over the weekend, and THIS text appeared at the end. What? WHAT? They're trying to tell me that the events in this film actually happened?
Adam Sandler officiating a wedding between a popstar and an American football player sounds like a pitch for a really bad film, which would feature a parade of cameos, an Oscar winning actor, David Spade, and multiple Smash Mouth songs.
Lily Allen and Metallica fans are tying themselves in knots defending those artists' ripoff shows. (Allen gig very short, Metallica hits spread over 2 gigs) My favourite Allen defence is "it would've been jarring to hear an old hit in the middle of her album". But thats what encores are for!
Is it just me or is this ad for a kids' art camp dark and weird? I suspect the word "camp" was part of their AI prompt, and the end result was this.

12. James by Percival Everett A terrific idea (Huck Finn told from Jim's perspective) well told. Humane, literary and cinematic. It has an almost surreal, Odyssey quality - an adventure with sprinklings of philosophy. Inevitably dark at times. James is a memorable character. Good book.
11. The Uncool by Cameron Crowe Like the author's films, this is accessible, warm and funny. Shameless and prolific name-dropping of the rock stars he hung out with, and it's rich with fun, rock n roll anecdotes. Almost zero mention of his 4 decade film career, though! Enjoyable book. Awful cover.
