aging boston hardcore kid / punk dad cliché. i put the sparkles and farts in your video games. antifascist. comic books, records, tabletop games, guitars.
apparently i need to buy the new jejune vinyl boxed set, because there's a picture of me in it haha. i was cool once, nearly 30 years ago...
music nerd life hack: while trying to calculate the value of our worldly belongings for both renter's insurance and moving truck, i learned that Discogs shows you an estimated value of your music collection. now i just need a similar site for books... ugh, so many books. (can you tell i'm packing?)
today marks 24 years working in video game development, 24 years of unironically writing "artist" on my taxes, and 24 years of memories with a bunch of fucking weirdos i love dearly. also today I sold the most expensive thing i ever stole from a game studio. we're moving, I'm tired of moving it.
shoutout to all the video game producers i have had the pleasure of working with over the years.
moment of silence for an inspiration to my comics-devouring younger self. i spent at least three of my teenage years trying to draw this exact Wolverine, clumsily aping the exaggerated anatomy and style. in an era of cookie-cutter super hero art, sam kieth was doing beautifully unique weirdo shit.
post a perfect album from the 90s that isn't nirvana, pearl jam, soundgarden, or alice In chains. so four grunge bands from seattle are the only albums anyone can remember for a whole decade? eesh. did gen Z post this?
aggressively house-ruled, but she wants to play all the time, so i am calling it a successful first step.
Post your favorite "Lord of the Rings" character. Wrong answers only.
at my age, there aren't a lot of products i am not allowed to buy for myself anymore. so it was especially kind of my parents to bring a tin of these grandma-ass butter cookies to thanksgiving, since the store won't sell them to me without an AARP card.
reading a children's book from the late 80s with my daughter and i blurted out "Ferrari Testarossa" like a pavlovian response upon seeing one. i'm pretty sure all little boys raised in the 80s were issued this poster by the state, regardless of how they felt about cars. "aspire to opulent vehicle!"
it's always cute when the elderly polling volunteers say, "don't forget to take a sticker!". you realize that the promise of a sticker is the only way i can trick her into coming out to vote with me, yeah? democracy! use it or lose it, motherfucker.
found an FMA (and a bonus grigg)! 'lith old heads unite. @mtallen.bsky.social
SEATTLE. hi. been a minute. we're coming to visit a week from today (8/24) and will be around for TWO WEEKS (until 9/6). would love to see you, flaunt our toddler, grab a cuppa, play a boardgame. whatever you got time for. get at me.
when your gaming group (a) are all dads and (b) have maybe played a few too many hours of Helldivers 2
years of late night follow-filming skateboard antics in college have finally paid off. i can keep a person on a four-wheeled rolling object in frame with the best of them.
left the house, did a PAX for the first time since the covid started. games are still good and fun.
hey, so, some news: i got a new job! i'm joining the lovely space cadets at System Era Softworks as their new Lead VFX Artist! today was my first day! they sent me a bunch of fun schwag, including a toddler yoga mat! debating whether i keep the unemployment beard or not.
smuggled in a visit to the optometrist before my corporate health insurance runs out. i've needed reading glasses for awhile, i am just bad at actually going to the doctor. the last time i had glasses i was 12, and the AR virtual try-on definitely did not exist back then. the future is silly
the last time i had to grow an unemployment beard i was 10 years younger, 40 lbs lighter, and the beard wasn't nearly so white.
post a video game gif from the year you were born. still a banger, though.
