It's my second alter that references that episode. It really is one of the best!

From a black sphere, a wolf-headed figure emerges with a howling. A gold liquid surges forth and also runs down the surface of the cracked sphere.

Detention Sphere 1UW Enchantment.
A reference to an Angel from Evangelion, a black and white orb with patterning that is reminiscent of dazzle camouflage.

Magic card Iron Verdict. The card's art box has been replaced with a screenshot from the show Iron Chef. From the stage, Chairman Kaga and four guest judges clap as a graphic shows the results of the scores they gave the Iron Chef and the challenger. This portion of the show is referred to as "Tasting and Judgment."

Manifesting Die Fugger 2.

Box art for what looks like a German computer game released in the early 90s. An unfortunately rendered Renaissance-era bureaucrat figure sits at a desk with ledgers, an inkwell, and c bag of coins. In his left hand he simultaneously holds a quill and points off to the side while shouting. The game's title is Die Fugger II.

What housing crisis? (Phone number obscured because I'm about to put in my bid and don't want the competition.)

A 5 gallon wheeled cooler surrounded by trash and a wet floor sign. Inside it there is a sign that reads, "Owner financing. Must sell, no banks. Move in ready. Call (number removed) home. no txt."

I have a couple of questions for the library.

The Drake meme passing on "anyone outside of the age of 13-18..." and giving the approval to "13-18 year-olds..."

Already much better.

In progress second attempt at the previous composition. 2/3 of the marsh has the red flowers laid out. The white field has allowed some small rocky outcroppings to be defined and little dashes help convey the breeze blowing through the space.

Here's the drawing I mentioned earlier. I was going to finish things off with the white gel pen and then punch up some of the values elsewhere. The problem is that the piece can really only get darker, and in so doing, it risks losing the contrast...

54/75 Look, I was always going to have the rules text for a modal spell like Cryptic Command front and center. Did I make it a little interesting? Maybe...?

Cryptic Command proxy. Hints at the four modes and the implication to pick two are laid out on an authorization form signed "L" and stamped with the Dimir sigil. There's also a pendant/syringe in silver filigree with some bubbling concoction.

Here's a zombie portrait I did 20 years later in 2024.

Portrait of a scraggly‐haired zombie. Blood drips fron the lip less mouth and is splattered around the temples and cheeks. Very skeletal in nature. Against a red background black speckles orbit the head in the suggestion of flies.

In the foreground, a woman in a striped dress flips her hair. Behind her, one of the statues is not what it seems. A long marble hallway with a rose window has a line of statuary in alcoves. The one just behind her is actually the Doppelganger, who has a knife raised and is starting to lean out from the hiding space.

The first hand drawn deck I did had each playset as panoramas, and this 8-card double.

Four Bone Misers above four Zombie Infestations. The scene has the wizards in front of a wrought iron cemetery gate gesturing with skulls and open bags. Below them are a horde of zombies with plenty of blood.

My one painted alter. I was intending at one point to make a greenest partners commander deck based around the Coheed and Cambria story. These were going to be the basics for that deck.

A dozen lands painted in a nebula style with Coheed and Cambria's Keywork symbol painted in white. The Swamps cut a diagonal path through the scene to represent the Year of the Black Rainbow album.

52/75 I do love how quickly using the markers can fill space vs hatching, but I really want to do something soon that's just all hatching. I think the markers are helping me learn value and lighting in a way I'm hoping strengthens my hatching.

Sunken Hollow. A ruined amphitheater that is also part aqueduct? An amphitheater that's starting to fall to ruin with a knotty tree in the pit. There's a stream of water pouring into the arena from a channel built into the middle-tiers of the seating area. My intention was to convey an abandoned Selesnya space (green/white identity) has been subverted into a Dimir (blue/black identiy) space, since blue/green are enemy colors and black/white are enemy colors.

50!/75 Doing the set of Islands gave me the idea to explore the Lab part of the mission. I love that as more pieces come together, I get more inspiration. Each illustration is more scaffolding from which I can hang other ideas.
