Today’s Distraction Baking™️ is my first ever loaf of pumpernickel bread. (Of course in my mind I’m hearing it in Daffy Duck’s voice: “PUMP-er-nickel!”)

Well, here is one item I cannot recommend, unless you think $70 for a machine that slightly warms a stainless steel bowl for your bread dough to rise in (aka “ferment mode”) is money well spent.

My distraction baking has now ventured into rye breads. Here’s my 1st loaf of Swedish Limpa. Yes it’s a rather lame 1st attempt at scoring the loaf with a bread lame. Guess the loaf should be just *lightly* scored, not eviscerated. Still, it tastes fantastic! Farmor Tilda would be proud, I think.🍞💙

Today’s haul from Trader’s Market in Elko MN. 2 books, $2 each. The Esquire is a collection of articles copyrighted 1933 thru 1940. Authors include GJ Nathan, Langston Hughes, Ring Lardner, Ernest Hemingway, & many others. The Thomas replaces a tattered mm paperback edition I lost years ago.📚💙
