Straightforwardly corrupt. The people involved in this need to be disbarred and jailed. Any attempted pardons need to be invalidated - you cannot pardon a crime to which you are party.

If you grew up in a 3000 SF house thats now worth a million dollars then maybe you had a much higher than normal standard of living? For the average person that doesn't live in a gigantic million dollar home, housing quality is way, way up compared to 50 years ago.
This is insane, but also I think it explains a lot about why billionaires are the way they are.
